Judah Mintz to test NBA Draft waters

We need to use Jesse’s departure to our advantage here. Red can offer a guaranteed starting spot to Judah’s potential replacement because Jesse’s minutes were freed up. Why can’t we go all in on that Saudi kid Ty Al Laur? If Judah inexplicably returned we could go with a 4 guard lineup plus Benny, and Judah can split PG duties and play off the ball at times. If Judah is gone we simply plug in the new PG.

I hope this is Red’s “with or without Judah” plan… but it sounded like plan A and B are different in his mind, so probably not.

And yes I know that kid is not a Saudi prince, but subconsciously thinking that we need one to get back in the NIL game.

Judah is gone. Nobody should return to school if they are 19 and can get drafted. All you guys would do it too. Go when the iron is hot. Learn from the lessons of CJ Fair, Tyus Battle, Hillary Clinton, Donald Trump, and countless others whose stock fell after they got exposed. The ‘Cuse will survive. This dude’s goal is to play in the NBA, not be a Syracuse Basketball player. Sound harsh? The truth is harsh.
Sizzling! I just printed this out and hung it on my wall as a reminder of how life works.

One of the craziest posts in board history.

you don't what exactly he truly wants and yet you are also turning around telling us all what we would do too

if his TRUE goal is to have a lasting long NBA career - being a late 2nd rounder is statiscally improbable...being a first round pick would make that goal much more likely.

IMO Judah's specific situation - highly talented, learning a new position ... is unique and should be considered accordingly. He's a much better player than the ones you mentioned in terms of NBA fit. there's zero chance he is exposed because his strengths are not exposable. he can improve on his weaknesses best as the lead guard on a p5 team. he needs playing time and experience and reps to continue his transition into PG...which he hasnt completed yet.

if he truly just wants to be in the NBA, even tenuously, then that's fine too...and then you would be right...but don't paint it with such a broad brush as if there isn't any nuance to the situation - it's extremely unlikely that Judah doesnt get a lot better in the future than he is right now...so that should weight into the equation.

If he goes at 43, he won't be playing in the NBA much next year IMO. He'd be playing in the G League. Maybe have a cup of coffee or two if the team isn't very good.

That doesn't mean he shouldn't leave. Just pointing out that it's more likely he doesn't play in the NBA if he's a 2nd round pick than likely he does.
Maybe, maybe not. Getting drafted is still getting drafted.

He can improve other places besides Syracuse. See Jerami Grant, and Brissett. Syracuse doesn’t Keep
These types.

It’s how fringe NBA players at Syracuse works. Time and time again. Exceptions CJ Fair, and Tyus Battle. Bet they both wish they left earlier.

If Judah leaves, Red already has his starting backcourt in Chance and JJ. Thats plan B. He’s not getting any guards in the portal that’s better than those two. No one will come with those guards already here. He can’t guarantee a starting spot and shouldn’t.

Right, because nobody realized that Battle couldn’t shoot the 3, until he stayed for that Junior year! He would’ve slid through with NOBODY noticing, and magically became a 3 point shooter in the G League, but that ONE more year at Syracuse screwed it all up!

Battle didn’t have NBA measurables.

But the iron isn't "hot". Nobody has him close to being a 1st round pick. And don't you think if he came back next year and we won 25 games that he'd be a first rounder?

There this thing called NIL. Maybe you've heard it mentioned once or twice on this forum; kinda changes the dynamic.

We can do a 4-guard lineup. No excuses.
