Kadary Richmond...

don’t disagree but he showed last year that he has really deep range

and ranged artillery is a huge advantage
I’m definitely not saying the kid shouldn’t see the floor. But if his primary purpose is to stick 25 foot 3s then personally I don’t think that merits an equal minutes split. On the defensive end alone it may not be a net positive. It’s mind blowing to me how bad he has been on D.

When we had Waiters, Triche, Scoop JB had a pretty standard rotation.
Scoop and Triche would start.
Dion would come in for Triche.
Triche would come in for Scoop.

Second half
Scoop and Triche started.
Dion and Scoop would close.

We can do something similar with Richmond, Girard and Boeheim.

I am still a Joe fan. We need him this year. These two games don't change that for me. Heck, game 1 he made 2 huge shots. Certainly a competitor. Overall it has not been great yet. Regardless, we need a third guard to play minutes!

I didn't know that. Of course, but you don't score that many pts and not be able to shoot. He is already a great free throw shooter. It takes a lot of time to adjust to the college game for shooters. At least for our shooters.
His inability to defend at all should be enough to cut his minutes. Add in his atrocious shooting this year, I’d say he needs to earn his time on the floor.

Hoo boy.

We can agree to disagree if you are banking on the Glens Falls numbers.

I'll take the 34 D1 games, his terrible shooting numbers, his terrible defense... and I'm still NOT saying he should not play.

But we all need to get a handle on what he can do.
Personally, I think part of the equation here is usage. Give him 20 minutes a game where he's not obviously struggling through 35 to 40 minutes per game. Allow him to come in and play off-ball for 10 of those minutes, lead guard 10 of those minutes.

I think his three-point percentage could bump up about five percentage points. I'll take an off the bench 40 percent three-point shooter any day of the week. I think Joe is the type of player who would actually end up being more efficient the less he plays, and the more off the ball he plays.

Let Richmond probe and kick and Joe might actually find himself taking more open threes. Not a bad situation to be in if Coach B. is willing to do it. Kadary needs minutes. He should be taking them from Buddy a little bit, and Joe a lot. 30 minutes for Richmond and Buddy and 20 for Joe seems reasonable to me.

There will obviously be games where Joe might play more given the defense the other team is playing, but in order for Kadary to truly become a lead guard, Joe has got to lose minutes which I actually think will help him with consistency.

No disagreement from me at all. He has just been terrible.

So am I.

Legit, my gym teacher, Bob Griffiths, would knock down like 75/80 just shooting while we were all running around like insane monsters. One of Johnson City's best bball players!

I could never play if someone was actually in the vicinity of guarding me but I did hit 52 FTs in a row hanging in the gym.

Legit, I don't care what the situation, if I hit 50+ in a row, I'd buy a plaque and put it on a wall. Seriously. I could never keep focus to go more than like 10 in a row, even by myself in a driveway.

thing is that He has shown the consistent ability to generate turnovers at the top of the zone in key moments

Like tag-team wrestling - make a system where one player can tag in for another one. It's brilliant!

That would be a difference maker!
Except, they can't tag out due to social distancing rules.

Boeheim: "Kadary gets tired pretty quickly, but he has tremendous skills. He has to get himself in better shape, but he showed the tools (he has)."
It's funny, because JB is always defending his short rotation by saying the guys don't get tired b/c they rest during Team and TV Timeouts. He sure didn't look tired out there to me.
