She had a relationship with a subordinate. She did more than betray her husband. It’s an incredibly bad example to set for the young women she was serving as a role model for and coaching.
I agree but therefore isn't it also an incredibly bad look that SU really did nothing about it?

I find this to be very sad, she was a great player and advocate for SU.

Agree.

I do think that a person in their 20's hasn't fully realized who they want to be and what they want out of life yet too.

Agree.

I wish Treanor the absolute best at Penn State.

Year late in my opinion. Not giving them credit.

I mean, not a great act, but I don’t think people have to demonize her. People on here acting like they’re perfect should take a breathe

Also, accusing Syracuse of acting late? Come on, she didn’t diddle a child. Get some perspective.

What alumnae, parents and others have been upset about is not that the infidelity happened but how it happened and especially how it detracted from the program's focus and the well-being of the student-athletes, massively reducing respect for KT among many. KT is still rather young and learning about herself and what is tragic is that she could have brought about the same changes in her personal life without this professional disaster if she had acted with more prudence, self-control, self-respect and consideration for others. This could have been a perfect situation for Kayla and SU- I think it was truly her dream job and she could have been the coach at SU for 30 or 40 years- and while what has transpired is regrettable, I don't think it is revelatory of the person Kayla is and wants to be.

It would be a long shot but Kevin Rice’s wife Marie McCool is the head assistant at UNC. Has done a tremendous job still very active as a player.

Situation isn't any worse or better than it was a year ago. Will be interesting to see how the school handles the next incident involving similar circumstances.

Yup. And it was clearly being used against her on the recruiting trail, too. I know fanlax is a cesspool at times, but if the reality is a quarter of that, it's not surprising things had to change.

she was still the assistant coach at BC behind a coaching legend. the reality is we were losing ground in recruiting with her and she had yet to fully prove herself in game situations.

It's a bummer this didn't work out but I think she was given the opportunity to have a graceful exit and took advantage of it. This honestly solves a lot of issues for the AD.
I love Lacrosse and follow it closely, but some how, I missed all the "tea being spilled" on CoachTraylor?
Affair?? What happened? Also, she had a great career as a player and assistant at BU...But her recruiting seemed subpar! How did we lose the Spalina girl... when all of her brother's play here and I think another top recruit bailed and joined Spalina at Clemson. Please help me fill in the blanks!!!!

I really liked the idea of Kayla Treanor taking over. She got off to a very exciting start, and it seemed like once she got things figured out in terms of the HC learning curve, we'd be golden.

Given what happened, I wouldn't be surprised if this was a preemptive, in terms of the writing on the wall about her contract not being renewed.

Also, the results didn't match up with the "hope" I had for how it would work out.

Time to move on.

Would love to see Spalina, no idea how realistic that would be.

I'm really torn on Spallina. Have heard a lot of not flattering things about him and he rubs a lot of young women the wrong way. But you can't argue with his results and his coaching ability.

What results he beat Kayla 1x in OT he’s had multiple teams with elite talent and never made a final four. He is a good coach with lots of ties to the club teams but it’s not like he has some dominant record or championships. I think he is a good candidate but if your looking for someone with championship weekend history he has none on the women’s D1 level.

At Stony Brook.

Here, maybe he could get over that hump.

If Spallina's son wasn't doing what he's doing here, I'd be curious if people campaigning for him would still have him as their top choice. His resume puts him in conversations for jobs like this for sure, but agree with your post and think he's in the same tier as a lot of other names people are throwing out there.

I’m just stating facts I think he’s a good coach but if you put Kayla’s and his resume next to each other she went further in 4 years then he has been able to in all his years at SB

I think the only person she betrayed was her husband.

You are way to worked up about this.
agreed. A relationship with the subordinate isn't something new. Quite common and I don't see it as making her some type of evil person. People make mistakes and it happens. I just think the right hire could very well be an improvement. Just thought she maintained what she inherited here and BC and NW aren't going anywhere. She wasn't going to get them there, IMO. I am sure she will be fine at PSU, she was good not great at Syracuse

dont disagree. he was a finalist the last time though so obviously folks think highly of him.

He never interviewed to my knowledge made a very public tweet stating he already had a job when the job first came open. Besides he didn’t meet Wildhack’s qualifications he publicly stated that he was only interested in coaches with championship experience which Spallina doesn’t have

It's not anything new, but when you're entrusting that person with the welfare of your daughter, it becomes a little more important.

Agree about the coaching aspect. We were still really good except for this past season, but I don't think things were trending where she was going to get us to the next level with BC and NW.
