Kentucky implosion

Top recruiting ratings every year are nice, but you're not going to win a national championship with freshmen. Kentucky has proven that, as well as Duke. You have to have a core of veteran players on the roster. SU doesn't win in 2003 without the steadiness of the upperclassman.

Beat me to it. Jackson seems like a great kid too. Better fit is here. He could own the middle of the zone just like Noel could have.

But, but we landed our top priority 5 guy in JBA a couple years back according to...in the recruiting threads...the same year we swung and missed on all of those much more highly rated 5's. I'm not so sure there's any room on the roster for a guy like Jackson. ;)

I'd love to have Jackson, but he's currently viewed as a lottery pick in this year's draft. Hard to see him choosing to transfer elsewhere over being a lotto pick if that's where his stock ultimately is at the end of the year. Plenty of time for that to change though.

Not one person said missing on Jackson was ok. It was clear what he would have done for this year's team vs anyone else we brought in. No idea what you are getting at.

It's not what was said about Jackson, etc., but rather what was assertively & boisterously stated/implied by one here after landing JBA, and missing out on those much higher rated 5's we were after.

Your post made it sound like it was board consensus, not a single poster. Individuals say crazy things all the time on here. We're almost all guilty of it from time to time.

Most delusional fan base in college basketball. Your school in in Kentucky FFS. The only reason anyone goes there is to tour the bourbon trail.
Delusional fan base? Yep! But the ponies bring in a heck of a lot more tourism than the Bourbon Trail. In fact I'd say there is more bourbon drank at the Blue Grass Stakes and Kentucky Derby each year than is sold year long on the Bourbon Trail tours. But the fans...dear me. I have to give them credit they are passionate and devoted.

At this point, we have no idea what JBA will be. I wouldn't be taking a victory lap just yet.

I understand, and this is true. Although, there's a difference between saying crazy things, etc., versus taking oneself so seriously here. Additionally, one's particular manner/disposition, pompous nature, etc. demonstrated in the process.

No victory lap, that's your own thinking there. Any true fan of SU, let alone diehards like us on this board, wouldn't wish any recruit being unsuccessful here. Suggesting otherwise is malarkey.

But he said that he loves him so that makes it ok...
OMG you should listen to his local radio shows. He portrays himself as somewhere between Mother Teresa, Joan of Arc and the Pope. And many of the fans treat him the same way. And then are also 90 year grandmothers that call and question his not using 3/4 court pressure D during the last 2 minutes of the first half when they're only up 15. I haven't listened so far this year. Probably pretty funny. I really try not to but sometimes come across it. It's good comedy.

It sounded like a victory lap to me. But I applaud the use of the word malarkey. That alone gets points from me.
