IMO - is disrupting Malik Willis. He’s legit, big arm, confident and mobile.

Sacks are awesome, but getting him out of rhythm is important too. If he can sit in the pocket and wait for routes to develop, that’s problematic. I like our chances better making him beat us on the ground.

Our defense is towards the top of the ACC in sacks and TFL’s. Yes, it’s come against pretty sub par offenses/competition, but we’ve proven we can create pressure and negative plays for the opposing offense.

Get Liberty in 2nd and 3rd & long situations, get Malik Willis off the field.

I would also say having an offensive game plan. Doesn’t matter which QB we play, Tucker should touch the ball 25-30 times a game
We will need to score points to win. I’m going to say 30-35.

There’s also no doubt that Tucker’s our thoroughbred, and I love when he has the ball. But we have quality depth. I think 15-20 carries and 5 - 6 reception opportunities a game is a really solid number for him.

25 touches for Tucker 13-15 for RB 2 & 3 and 35-40 passing attempts puts us around 80 plays. I think that would be a great # for this squad. Means we’re playing with pace and sustaining drives.

One of Thompson, Wax or Jones needs to be blitzing up the middle every single play.

FWIW #54 Jatius Geer is going to be a player here I think. Coincidence that he got #54 and played DE yesterday??
I hope Dino told (#96 Jared Verse) to Call Me to play opposite to Jatius.
I'd love to know the story how he ended up at Albany.

He is majoring in Engineering...so I don't think he was a late qualifier.

Willis is the QB and leading rusher on the team.
And he’s going to score a lot.
So SU needs to score a lot too.
(I’m fine if Dino wants to borrow this for the pregame speech)

He played for Central Columbia HS, which is in the mountains of PA and play schools like Lewisburg and Montoursville. Gem in the rough.

He’s a redshirt freshman but he plays like a senior. His coach calls him Hulk.

I read an article that says that he was recruited in high school by a bunch of schools including Syracuse. Not completely sure how he ended up at Albany but part of that was probably because he was 6-4/205 pounds as a senior.

Seems like an easy decision to me:
- live and play football in Albany, for an angry, muttering head coach
- play in the Dome, in front of thousands of fans for Head Coach (insert name here)

Agree with poster above. Going to need to score. Not necessarily 30+ but at least in the 20’s. I’m not exactly bullish on this happening.

Any chance they’re ranked this week? There were some losses in the bottom of the top 25 and liberty does receive votes.

I'm bullish. Our Linebackers are pretty good and this might be the best defense they see all season. We just need to contain him to under 200 yards of total offense and limit his other playmakers to pedestrian numbers. Can't allow Mack and the other RB to go off. Our rush defense is solid so far.

Garrett Williams needs to be 100%
Need his skills on the edge to blow up those quick passes out to the edge and his general outside containment
I see this being a 38-30 style game

I meant bullish on us scoring 20+.

Hmmm….just like another defensive end who played at Syracuse and is now probably the most dominant defensive end in the NFL…

I think our defense is legit, but in college football today, teams are going to score points. Can't expect the defense to hold forever.

So we're going to need points, and the good news is unlike Rutgers, Liberty plays football and doesn't just junk everything up. This will be a good test of our offensive line. We're going to lean on Tucker, and it sounds simple, but we'll need our QBs and WRs to make plays.

I think this is a winnable game if we're focused.

Let's see if we come ready to play.

They are going to get yards. We need to limit the big plays, try to get TOs, and hold them to FGs. If the D can pull that off we will have a chance. The problem is our STs and mistakes on O. If we clean that up we could pull off a 38-34 type of game.

I think we can run on them and if so, that gives us a shot. Defense has been salty but they haven’t faced a kid like Willis who is very likely a first round pick in the next draft. Gotta stop the screens that often haunt us

Liberty is going to scheme to limit Tucker and will play press coverage on the outside WRs - just like Rutgers and everyone else on our schedule going forward. This will force the QB to play very well to score points. If Tucker and the quick passing game are taken away, I can't see this O scoring more than 14.

Agree that the D looks very good and is well coached. We have not played a dynamic offense yet this year. That first real test is coming Friday. Liberty is going to score... a lot.

I'm really looking forward to the Vegas lines being released. Could make me look stupid given the above analysis.

Darn I was hoping Liberty would sneak into the Top 25 for this game but they’re 26th in today’s new poll.
