Barnes started 4 games, 2 we lost, had 10 tackles 3 pd's and 0 ints. We loved the idea of him as an athlete and 4 star but actual on field production improved with Kerr in his place. Peal is a bigger, faster (10.75), and was higher rated (92) 4 star.

Zeed played 2 games and had 8 recs and 0 TDs. We loved the idea of him as a 4.3 burner that we hadn't seen in decades on the hill... Cook is also a 4.3 burner as are many of the younger guys now vying for starting roles.

KJE was arguably our biggest recruiting win but hit campus soft and light. He had 7 tackles, 3 sacks (all against Holy Cross) and didn't seem to completely buy in to Fran's program per multiple comments made in interviews. Reese coming into replace him is a literal and figurative grown ass man at 27 years old and appears to live in the weight room.

I had the same high hopes for all 3 but production wise it may well be addition by subtraction if all replacements buy in where the former hadn't

Kerr is bigger than Barnes and hits/tackles much better. Barnes trying to tackle was abysmal

Yeah, this isn’t the reason. Kid just wasn’t a good fit with the team. He’ll land somewhere else and hopefully learn from his experiences here and what to do differently.

That's some talent right there, but if you can't do the simple things then it's best for the program he moves on. Culture is huge. It's the building blocks for a successful program. Once you establish your culture, everything can follow.

I will be interested to see where KJE ends up. He's up to 240lb. At 6'4 240 he had the potential to be a good pash rusher at this level.

He's also very coachable and has a great work ethic. He's scrappy -- wouldn't be surprised if he reminds Fran of himself in many ways. Has a chip on his shoulder and plays with it. I'm looking forward to seeing how he develops in year two. He was thrown into the deep end and survived.

That's a good way to put it. Due to injuries, he got forced into a starting role mid-season, and got the job done.

Not sure how good he is, whether he has elite upside, etc. But it was a promising beginning, for a true frosh thrust into a starting role unexpectedly.

They should just make their jerseys read E Kerr and I Kerr. Just omit the rest of the first name letters. Or maybe First Kerr and Second Kerr. Anything else will be way too confusing.

They’re both listed at 6’1 180, but i thought Barnes seemed bigger. For all the credit people give Kerr for being serviceable when thrown in, let’s not forget Barnes started some of the first 5 guys as a true freshman. I’d say Barnes has the higher potential, Kerr is scrappy.

It isn't an either / or.

Barnes was a highly rated, high profile recruiting "win." He started, but was slight of build and got injured, and missed 2/3 of the year.

As injuries to the CB position spread further across the unit, we had to turn to a less heralded true frosh, Kerr, and he accorded himself well.

It isn't a competition -- those are both statements of fact.

I think they should randomly swap Jersey Numbers for games (legit roster submits), make other teams try to rem who is who.
