Kyle McCord to NFL Draft

Don’t get too excited, Mike M writes a lot of just in case articles, even if the chances are small, this was accidentally sent out, nothing at all is imminent

Woah...I mean this can't just be an "honest mistake" right??? Someone clearly wrote this and had it ready to go
All major (and minor) media outlets have pre-written obituaries ready to go when XYZ celebrity/politician passes, so they can get it out there immediately. This is probably the same type of thing.

As JB said premature anything is not good.

That being said you aren’t drafting a story like that without some basis, it’s so random.

Player X is transferring out/in, sure, but that?

I’ll be honest, I’ll be eating a ton and I mean a ton of crow

But I’ll take it all
I haven't seen anyone say that he will be back so there is no one to say they know for sure that he is coming back. So who would there be to make anyone eat crow? Quite frankly, I'm just happy that there might be a chance, no matter how miniscule that he could be back. The thing is, we need to know quickly. This can't drag out where it costs us getting his replacement in the portal.

Maybe there's something to it. Do you really need to pre-write a story about an extra year of eligibility? It's not like pre-writing an obit on some Soviet premier who was around for 60 years. I'm getting my hopes up. I shouldn't. But I am.

Before game 7 of the TB Lightning's first Stanley Cup win, the now defunct Tampa Tribune wrote two editorials, one congratulating the team on winning the Cup and one congratulating them on an exciting and outstanding season even though they lost. They won but some early editions pushed out the wrong editorial. I got one of the editions with the wrong editorial. They wrote a retraction the next day in all issues explaining what happened. I still have the paper with the wrong editorial. I saved it thinking it might be worth something one day. It’s probably worth little but a classic example of "Dewey Defeats Truman" when a newspaper published the wrong result in a close 1948 presidential election. There's an iconic photo of Harry Truman holding up the paper with huge "Dewey Defeats Truman" headline on the front page.
