I haven't seen anyone say that he will be back so there is no one to say they know for sure that he is coming back. So who would there be to make anyone eat crow? Maybe there's something to it. Do you really need to pre-write a story about an extra year of eligibility? It's not like pre-writing an obit on some Soviet premier who was around for 60 years. I'm getting my hopes up. I shouldn't. But I am.

They won but some early editions pushed out the wrong editorial. I got one of the editions with the wrong editorial. They wrote a retraction the next day in all issues explaining what happened. I still have the paper with the wrong editorial. I saved it thinking it might be worth something one day. It’s probably worth little but a classic example of "Dewey Defeats Truman" when a newspaper published the wrong result in a close 1948 presidential election.
