Kyle McCord to NFL Draft

Here is a thought on a potential law suit. The information out there is that the waiver was made months ago. It loos like the ncaa slow rolled the decision. I could see an argument that if the waiver is denied at this point Kyle could argue bad faith in asking for an injunction. Because of the delay he would not have time to litigate the issue prior to having to make a decision for the nfl. Thus, the injunction should be granted to allow him to play.

I share that point. And I am getting a little worried early that we are not going big game hunting. Last year we got Diggs and a db that made 3rd team all acc. Now, he wasn't a big add but Diggs was and we are losing Wax and JB along with Diggs. We have lost two starting db's to the portal. We need a lot of help on defense if we want to be a real contender.
Y'all clearly don't listen to Fran at All. He's been saying he's not going deep into the portal just to fill perspective holes. They're building this team through the HS ranks and the portal guys they do get will be guys with multiple years to develop unless it's a special case.

Now, I do believe they need some pieces, especially pass rush (paging AJ Pena) But they aren't going "big game hunting" like other schools cause Fran clearly isn't building this program primarily through the portal. They believe in their ability to develop young players.

I do think we really need a LB though...we're extremely thin there

LB, RB, Edge, a couple OL, and maybe DB even though we have a lot of young talent on the backend that they may prioritize developing and giving opportunities to over transfers. Outside of that, I don't see them going crazy for portal pieces

Based on numbers other portal QB’s are getting he is easily worth $4M. Not sure if he takes less, but it seems we are getting a deal on him too. IF he does come back he will be in a lot of the preseason magazines and all-american teams. It would put Syracuse squarely in the top 20 and just the QB we need to navigate a tough schedule. We will take a hit at receiver unless Ross and Hornsby step up
and Zeed is back, but it’s hard replacing a unicorn in Gadsen who’s a match up nightmare. The offense will be elite. I’d like to see us go all out and go for a productive TE and OL help would be the biggest concern. Not to get ahead of myself or anything.

I thought this wording from Infanti was interesting. This could be me parsing it too carefully, but exploring options is the type of language I might use as a leaker to describe something other than a waiver/appeal if I didn't want to explicitly say, "We're considering suing the NCAA."

All those losses and our D was largely suspect. It and specials needs a major overhaul.

Need run blockers

Need to replace OG

Need depth at WR

There is a lot to do

If OSU / NCAA let's KM have a bajillionth year of eligibility, maybe that will attract a lot of talent?

I love Steve and this isn’t meant to single him out. But I think it’s pretty funny that we have been talking about this for weeks. Twitter Joes have been very openly talking about it. Directly asking McCord, insiders and journalists.

The ONLY thing from any journalist was an accidental link that had a picture headline that said McCord granted 5th year in an article that had nothing to do with McCord 5th year.

On Dec 19th, finally Brian Higgins asks McCord what’s up.

And now every cuse journalist is like “my sources can confirm”

This is pretty simple. Journalists have to have people go on the record. Internet posters don’t.

Getting someone to speak on the record about this ain’t easy.

I would expect, in these situations, publicity is a bad thing, as it relates to the discussions with the NCAA

Just like if you were arrested in town your lawyer would tell you to be quiet, because you don't want to put the powers that be in a tough spot vis a vis public perception, etc...

Would expect SU to have told local media to pipe down and let us get this done. JMO

WR is one of our deepest position groups. Pena, Ross Simmons, Gill, Hatcher, Zeed, E Ross, Hornsby, the kid from Rutgers. Tremble is the replacement for OG. With getting Bertrand and Josh Miller staying, I would assume they add one more OL via the portal. On Defense they likely add AJ PENA (rescheduled his visit for Saturday), another DL, and one CB. Fran made it clear he's not going to raid the portal too much this year. With all the freshman coming in and the nucleus he has returning. Key pieces are all they need. He's focused on recruiting and developing talent.
