Kyle McCord to NFL Draft

This is pretty simple. Journalists have to have people go on the record. Internet posters don’t.

Getting someone to speak on the record about this ain’t easy.
I’m a nobody and I was pretty detailed about even Ryan Day signing off on it about 40 pages ago (no idea how many pages ago). But if I knew with a very credible source. And they didn’t, that’s on them.

And if Cuse asked them to be quiet, why is Brian Higgins all of a sudden allowed to ask?

WR is one of our deepest position groups. Pena, Ross Simmons, Gill, Hatcher, Zeed, E Ross, Hornsby, the kid from Rutgers. Tremble is the replacement for OG. With getting Bertrand and Josh Miller staying, I would assume they add one more OL via the portal. On Defense they likely add AJ PENA (rescheduled his visit for Saturday), another DL, and one CB. Fran made it clear he's not going to raid the portal too much this year. With all the freshman coming in and the nucleus he has returning. Key pieces are all they need. He's focused on recruiting and developing talent.
I agree on all counts, including having a good WR group. But, if a proven #1 receiver comes along and wants to join, that would be good too. But, a healthy JRS should fill in nicely for Meeks and Zeed can step back in to his original spot with the young guys and Chris Long (AKA Rutgers kid, he has a name Nick) backing them up.

At some point, when there is enough noise, you have to address the elephant in the room. Also, I think they are feeling REALLY confident about it. Publicly they are coy and quietly say 50/50, but you can see the confidence in the players, especially McCord, that this is going to get done.

yeah or you end up looking like Axe did a couple nights ago
You have no idea what youre talking about. A person from inside Collins camp broke the news to Brent, and he did his job reporting it. Collins also retweeted all the posts. It was taken down because the university hadn't committed YET. They are still in talks and it's possible Collins comes as a potential backup if Kyle comes back. The person who was wrong was the source inside Collins camp.

Appreciate that, I couldn't think of it while posting.

I guarantee your source isn’t going to talk to the media or isn’t authorized to do so. Completely different circumstances.

Breaking that agreement gets people fired.

I’ve been on both sides of the microphone. Getting people on the record is not easy.

That’s why journalists use more than one source. If he had a source from one side he should have talked to a source on the other side. It’s journalism 101 and Brett failed.

Agree someone telling a friend is way different than telling a reporter even on background as if it leaks then and they find out, you’re toast.

my favorite are the inadvertent leaks. Have lots of fun stories of those. People speaking too loudly on a train, in a restaurant etc. using a laptop on an airplane without a screen protector. So many silly things leak because people are careless.

"Anonymous Source" is now an acceptable default for journalists. One could technically be their own Anonymous Source and chat whatever sht they want.

This is why nobody really takes media outlets seriously anymore... fool my once shame on me, fool me for decades..

Media has to do what the media has to do lol

This.

It's actually clear as day what Axe was doing when he caged the announcement with the important wording "...expected to sign..."

He was just prematurely posting for clicks and planned to use the "expected" wording to scurry for cover if it all went sideways, which it did... and he tried to say his announcement was never 100% and pointed to that wording.

He got what he really wanted... Clicks.

Do those odds even exist yet?

I would suspect that teams would be ahead of us

Clem
SMU
Lou
Miami

Teams that might be ahead of us

NC st
UNC
GT
Pitt
VT

No idea what FSU odds do after that debacle

Last yr we were like 40-50 to 1 opening

We might be in the 25-1 range this year

This year proved we needed a minimum of 5 studs. Umari won't be the same, IMO.

Pena benefited from OG

I hear you, but two studs are gone, another will be recovering. We need studs, two Meeks & OG level dudes

I get it. But people can’t ask Kyle the same way Higgins did?

There is a *Brent joke to be had here.
