Lampkin - Earnin' & Burnin', Snappin' Necks & Cashin' Checks

That pretty good.

I am not burnin', snapin' necks and cashin' checks, but I have no complaints on my station.

I count my orange united donation as a "charity donation" in my head, altho I can't log it as such for uncle sam.

The man fought all game and did his job I'd say overall pretty well.

The ironic part to me is he was like the old Pitt and they were more like SU used to be big man wise.

Is it grounds for termination when your team can’t make layups or free throws?
All of the above. There is no order to our game - it's like "go and play guys".

But we won 20* games last year.

You can analyze stats all you want, but this team just does not make winning plays. 3 or 4 stops and or conversions turns losses like these into wins.

They don’t change the overall metrics much, but they can change the W/L ledger.

The biggest stat I see is that we only forced 3 turnovers. That means we’re not pressuring the opponent into uncomfortable situations - which lead to turnovers, forced shots, rushed shots etc….

Hell, we dribble the ball our feet 3 times a game.

It’s all on the defensive end in my mind. Offensively, we’re serviceable, defensively we’re a dumpster fire.

Not having a rim protector in any fashion makes the job on the perimeter so much more difficult.

I agree and this is exactly why I would say the 800k is a bad investment not because of Lampkin himself he is probably doing about as well as expect and putting up similar numbers to what he has his entire career. The 800k was wasted because it made a previous bad defensive team a dumpster fire on defense. He didn’t really address any issues we had on the defensive side of the ball and actually made the team worse on that side of the court

Ideally, McLeod would be the defensive rim protector - eddie in when you need buckets, McLeod in when you need rim protection and stops.

Turned out McLeod is too slow to be effective (I think?)... Or still hobbled after foot surgery??

Honestly, he's played so little this season and in such garbage-time short stints, it's impossible to have much of a bead on what he is or isn't caple of. It's clear he can ride pine.

The roster construction has been spitball quality.

Eddie cannot play defense against the high pick and roll.

You know who uses the high pick and roll? Basically every team now. Literally.

He gets put into action and can’t be functional. And it is lighter fluid on our already terrible defense and defenders dumpster fire.

His on ball d is bad and he doesn’t block shots or even present the offense with adjusting shots.

And, again, he has never been in shape while here.

All credit to him for getting boards this past game.

For what he’s getting, he’s got to do more than 10 and 9 and atrocious defense.

This Is literally who he’s always been.

2022 TCU: 22mpg, 55% FG, 6ppg, 6rpg, 0.5bpg. 263lbs

2023 Colorado: 27mpg, 58% FG, 11ppg, 7rpg, 0.1bpg. 265lbs.

2024 Cuse: 29mpg, 56% FG, 10ppg, 9rpg, 0.6bpg. 265lbs.

He’s also 23 - it feels very unlikely a kid who’s already been in college this long would unlock a higher ceiling in his final year.

Did Red see 17ppg/10rpg/4apg with 60% from the field and hitting some 3s coming? They chose to pay Eddie for a reason

none of Cuffe, Carlos or Moore really got it going today.
Hard to get it going when you (Cuffe) only gets 9 minutes. Glad to see Carlos get more time so he can log his 1 assist with 1 turnover and shoot 1-3 for 2 points. I don't get it.

McLeod hasn’t been on the court for more than 10 minutes at a time his entire career no way you can go into a season counting on him for anything and if you did you deserve to be fired.

Yeah, the metrics clearly support what we are getting from him.

I don't understand why he needs to do this or that better... No, we got what we should expect from him. It was known.

Now, if you want to say, "well, then that's not good enough for an $800k NIL spend." Ok, but that is what we paid and he had another program bidding him up late. We had no plan b that late in the window and had top off his coffers twice or get no center in, evidently.

Was not a good NIL negotiation situation on the program side to be sure. Good negotiation on Eddie's side.

The new wild west gold rush.

Jeremy McNeil only played 15 minutes a game, and he most certainly was able to have an impact for us.

That would absolutely change the overall metrics.

Assuming we get 3 more stops a game, let's say 6 less points

Instead of allowing 78 PPG and being 302 in the whole NCAA

We'd allow 72 a game and be 161

There were 3-4 possessions on D where Bell didn’t even attempt to slide over and help and the announcer called him out. Then he takes a 3 near the end to cut it to 2 and acts like he just made his 9th three to pump a 20 point lead. We just have no idea what we’re doing. These guys have never won, have never played with winners or played winning basketball. None of it’s good
