Lemoyne Postgame

Positives:
- We avoided a catastrophic loss. Seriously. That was basically a must win.
- Davis was great inside the paint. Love the effort.
- Freeman rebounding.
- Lampkin passing 2nd half is what I expected.
- Bell scored in several ways and made a key defensive play late, but...
- Petar's hair and mustache. Beautiful.
- 1-0.

Negatives:
- Chris Bell fouling 3 pt. shooters or not sliding consistently on D. He also had 1 rebound. Worst rebounding forward we've ever had (that's a fact) and I get we had 2 other guys put up 11 and 12 but... has to be better in these all around ways, especially on this team.
- LeMoyne. Losing most of the game. Not good.
- Overall shooting from 3 and the line.
- Carlos struggled. Big bucket late but will struggle against better and bigger competition. I am certainly not throwing him under the bus yet (just checked too and he still finished with 6 dimes).
- Which leads to... the overall guard situation and rotation.
- LEMOYNE. Winning by 4 after being down 9.

Was going to offer my post game analysis, but got distracted by this ad on this board.

Davis is good. Disappointed in every other player that saw the court. I don’t see it with Taylor. Moore seems like the better bet to contribute at some point.
Agree about Taylor. Maybe his defense is ok, I'll let others comment on that. But he needs to bring more than that to help. Realistically, he looks like the mid major level was the right fit for him.

Here is my legitimate silver lining: at least we won.

You cannot lose to a team like that and expect to get in the tournament.

I’m sure the scoring margin will hurt us anyway, but at least we won.

My silver lining is they zoned us and we missed wide open 3s. Make those 3 and we win easily. Defense is still a mess either way though

Want to have hope, but he seems pretty shaky. He’s not the only one, but it wasn’t good.

Saw nerves from Taylor and even Carlos. Guys need to settle down for being seniors.

Also biggest concern for me was JJ. He has to have a much bigger impact on the game or someone else has to step into that role.

We could look much better against Colgate all things told too. 3 games in and I feel like im still tbd on this group.

Credit to Lemoyne for letting shots fly, and playing hard the whole game. Some of their shots were from good sets, and a few off pure adrenaline I'd imagine.

Our forwards seem to have a good mix of skills between them (finesse, bully, some athleticism). Eddie is a bit slow (expected) on defense but overall I think a net positive tonight.

JJ seemed to be sort of the same on defense as last year where it looks like he's really trying but still gives up some penetration. Carlos just got abused all night and it's hard to imagine every team not doing the same thing all year which is troubling. He's aggressive and in your face which I like, but he's just too small. Had a difficult time setting people up or getting into the lane as well.

So I'm unsure, tonight the team looked a little lackadaisical and disorganized which I'm sure can improve. Hoping our half court sets don't devolve into a quick pass for a Bell 3 or dump it down to Lampkin/Davis for a post up all year. Defense needs to improve a lot.

JJ and Carlos are getting all the mins at guard. We’re going to have to deal with it even if they aren’t producing

JJ is a kid with a lot of talent but still just doesn’t go out and play. Great kid and easy to root for but he’s still stuck in his own head it seems.

I get it’s game 1. I get it.

But we just aren’t talented.

Doesn’t make any of the guys bad people. Doesn’t make me not root for them.

But we just don’t have the talent and Red’s coaching abilities are TBD.

We are clearly less talented than last year. So I am surprised so many people expect better results this year.
