Lemoyne Postgame

Dang it, I thought having Dolphins in the thread title would be a little more fun.
I tried to go with the boilerplate "LeMoyne Postgame Thoughts" but was not quick enough with the trigger.

Our highest ceiling player backed into 10 points with an absolutely lousy stat line. He'll finish a lot better as the season goes on, get strong with the ball, which will help solve a lot of problems.

Yep I liked what I saw out of him. He's not some immediate All ACC player but there's a lot to like.

JJ and Carlos are getting all the mins at guard. We’re going to have to deal with it even if they aren’t producing
Yeah I don't like that one bit. It's counterintuitive, but playing limited guards lots of minutes is worse than playing more limited guards limited minutes.

I think the upside here is that Davis looked completely lost in exhibition 1, and had a big game today.

I'm sure Taylor will have some moments. They just weren't happening in this game.
It seems like they think he is a good defender, which is fine. Boeheim him and tell him if he ever shoots a three again he won't play a minute.

I will probably end up watching this game again. I was too busy laughing and crying to pay close attention to things. I really need to see if we have a talent issue or a coaching issue. If it is both then how much is coaching versus talent?

I saw a lot of confusion on offense and then on defense, I saw zero help defense which screams coaching. Then I saw a lot of players like Carlos who were talked by the board about being an excellent defender getting blown by on that side of the ball at will.

There is a lot of cause for concern after that game.

Yeah... an offensive possession ending in Taylor putting up a 3 definitely feels like a win for the defense/a shot opponents want us to take.

Everyone has to step up and play better for Colgate. Do that and build from it. That’s all we’ve got at this point.

Saw nerves from Taylor and even Carlos. Guys need to settle down for being seniors.

Also biggest concern for me was JJ. He has to have a much bigger impact on the game or someone else has to step into that role.

We could look much better against Colgate all things told too. 3 games in and I feel like im still tbd on this group.
Somehow Carlos got six assists. JJ needs to realize how much faster he is than everyone else on offense and save his overthinking for defense, where he needs to think a lot.

Not many bright spots until late.
But that is when it counts...so that is an upside.
Also...27 offensive rebounds. Unheard of.

One thing: LeMoyne is well-coached.
They make the most with what they have.
And it was almost good enough to beat the Orange.

One game. Learn a lot. Terrible defensively but they didn’t respect the opponent in my mind. Can’t give up 80+ to Lemoyne. Davis is a great player and I’m thrilled he’s on this team. Sometimes you gotta get punched early on
I'm huge Red fan but maybe you or someone else close to him needs to let him know that this game is on him and the staff. The kids looked like they were playing in a Y rec game. Red looked about as energetic as Chris Farley after a trip to the Golden Corral. In short the effort and enthusiasm showed by Red and his team was pathetic. Not sure if they all have the flu but with the exception of Davis and JJ nobody played hard until it was almost to late.
JW needs to let Red know that this isn't acceptable and Red needs to do the same with the team.

Need to see that fire and intensity. Leadership on the floor on the court and sideline.

Not sure what the recruitment team saw in Lucas Taylor. He is awful
If you believe in moral victories, then this might have been a moral loss; sort of like the VT football game.
