LeQuint Allen to NFL Draft

Congratulations to La Quinn Allen a tremendous young man and a tremendous football player. I wish you the best on your NFL journey you were a great player at Syracuse University for 3 years and a leader, and a hard worker who put up incredible numbers with your incredible talent best of luck to you, La Quinn God bless.

I love LeQuint and I hope he has nothing but success. He's a big loss on the football field and off. Best of luck!

Good luck to him I think he should go now vs take another year of hits. Should be interest with his pass catching and there's roster spots open for rookies on every team at RB even if they don't get drafted high.

Good luck LQA! Was a pleasure watching him play on Saturdays and will be a pleasure watching him play on Sundays. Chase your dreams, dream big and never stop the drive!

According to ESPN only Jeanty is round 1 top-12 material. But SEC RB’s always seem to stick and do well for 6+ years.

Not to hijack thread, but that RB from ASU is a stud and he proved it yesterday. Have seem him multiple times this year and always seems to impress more and more.

I would advise him to maximize his draft stock & start out w a higher guaranteed salary.

But, it's done.

The UDFA path is brutal. See Tuckers career. Hope LQA does better than that.
His draft stock will go down by simply playing another year of college and living another year of life. It would drop even if he surpassed this year's numbers. That's how it works.

Why? He made a decision about money. I don't have anything negative to say about him.

He was still likely going to make more here in NIL than the UDFA route year 1.

RB's have a shelf life on hits and he likely decided he didn't want to take more time of his potential NFL career with another college year and/or his draft stock might not rise with another year gamble.

If it was just about money, he prolly would have stayed... Or maybe Fran wasn't offering him as much as we need to spread NIL love so to speak??

Why does everyone think coming back will improve his draft status? Have you seen our schedule? Much tougher than last year. His stats would likely get worse, not to mention you always risk injury. This was the right decision for him.

Great kid. Warrior. Pleasure to root for. Good luck LQA. Make us even more proud.
Yeah, RB draft status does not improve much after a good year let alone following back to back 1000 yard rushing seasons. Tucker did not benefit from coming back; Henderson at OSU has not benefited. It just adds mileage. LQA has elite pass catching skills and is tough between the tackles. I think LQA and Skattebo from ASU both have the skill set the NFL is looking for. No sense is rolling the dice in college when the NFL was always the goal

Sorry. Didn't mean to rankle anyone. I promise

I think the shelf life argument is a good one.

NIL $ or lack thereof is another good one.

Grades? No idea. If he hated school, that would be a factor.

Fun? Im sure he was having fun.

But, his path will be much harder as an UDFA. Look no further than a Sean Tucker / Bucky Irving scenario.

Hope he got good advice.

Literally the easiest player on the roster to root for. Always gave 100%. All (most) football players are tough. You could see it in his play. I always thought his effort was better than 99% of others, even to the untrained eye. I thought he'd be back, but I hope he makes a career in the NFL. He will definitely be missed!

Improving it by .2 tenths is all he would need. Doable over a year
You do realize that is an insane amount right? It sounds like nothing, but it’s astronomical in the world of sprinting. And if it were that easy, literally every college football player would just do that. Then almost everybody would be Tyreek Hill.

I assume it would go up if he and McCord led us to 9 wins against a monster schedule & if LQA got 5 more carries a game leading to top 10 rushing numbers & perhaps vaulting both into the Heisman conversation.

Plus Fran said numerous times during the year that he was the TOUGHEST player on the team and set the example for everyone else to follow in that regard.

As others have said, selfishly I want SU to have the best possible players and both McCord and LQA would greatly improve us next year.

Taking my Syracuse hat off though, if they were my sons, I would certainly advise them to see where they could be drafted. Football is an extremely violent sport and as players, every season they play they put more wear on their bodies.

The NFL is likely the dream and the end goal, so if they get good feedback as far as the draft, go! If it doesn’t look good, come back and make some money.

Here's the calculus for you on the compensation.

Let's say LQA can earn $200K in NIL at SU if he returned next season. That could be low or high, I'm not really sure - but a guess.

If you make a practice squad for an entire season, for a rookie with under two years experience you make $12,500/week or $225,000 for 18 weeks.

Essentially he's betting on himself to make a practice squad, at minimum. It goes up after that (if he makes a 53-man roster, if he gets called up for a game to the active roster). Could also be some small bonus money and training camp stipends as he works out with teams as well.

It's a grind, but there's more earning potential at the next level. More of a guarantee at SU. Don't blame him. He's earned that right.
Give half of Lampkins NIL to LQA. That should fix your math.

I dont see how Fran realizes his goals for SU if we cannot hold onto a player like LQA in this scenario.

So many good backs in this class. Don’t think he gets drafted. I wouldn’t doubt him as a UDFA though. He’s a dawg. He will make someone’s roster.
I don't know if he gets drafted. But what will set him apart from other backs are his work ethic, his ability to catch the ball and gain yards, and his ability to block. It's actually the last item that may make him most attractive to potential suitors.

Go get 'em, LQA! Thanks for your service to SU!

Running backs more than anyone need to get the money when the can. They all have a super short shelf life, so getting in and even signing as an UFA get him going. His work ethic will take over from there.

I think at a lot of other positions, we do keep LQA-type talent.

I think RB is a whole different world. You go when you can, and he wasn't going to see his stock improved based on one more year of wear and tear.

That certainly makes sense to me Swish. But I can't for the life of me understand why Kyle McCord isn't projected much higher than he is for the upcoming draft. They look at things differently. I also don't see the scenario you presented for Lequint to be likely.
