LeQuint Allen to NFL Draft

Why does everyone think coming back will improve his draft status? Have you seen our schedule? Much tougher than last year. His stats would likely get worse, not to mention you always risk injury. This was the right decision for him.

Great kid. Warrior. Pleasure to root for. Good luck LQA. Make us even more proud.

LQA is an SU legend. He was always very good from the moment we saw him in the Pinstripe Bowl 2 years ago. He was elite the second half of this season and the bowl game. Despite how incredible he was playing in November, we even started to see increasing snaps for Willis in the Miami game which he had that fumble, but suggests that Willis was gaining ground in practice. Mix in a healthy Nixon. I think we should be more than ok.

Guy balled out for us! Appreciate him a ton. Is he projected to be drafted? If not, do we think he'll make more as an UDFA than he would in NIL?

I assumed he was on the stay side of the aisle with the RB draft class, his potential next year being a likely pre season AA and high on early draft boards for 2026.

That being said, he runs hard and I can't wait to see him play Sundays. He could be 5th-7th rounder with his catch ability and he's a decent blocker. Screams ST and 3rd down back to start his career with tons of potential.

His 40-yard dash time is not likely to change that much after one more season, is it?
Improving it by .2 tenths is all he would need. Doable over a year

Thank you LA and will never forgot that game winning TD run against UNLV in OT.

You are a true warrior and glad you were part of this team's success this year. Hope you have a great career on the next level.
Yep and I will also remember the 4th and 1 against UNLV where it looked like they had him and would end the game but he somehow got the yard he needed and we got it to OT

Go to college to get a job. How dare he.
Exactly. I guess I'm confused what happened to this thread. Everyone goes to college to set themselves up to make the most money they can in their chosen profession. Right now, LeQuint thinks he's done that and it's his time. Wish him well and good luck.

Glad LQA played here at SU. An all time gamer. He only started for 2 seasons and is 14th on the all time rushing list at SU. Had he stayed another season and rushed for 1,000 yards again he would jump to 3rd all time. LQA has the most receiving yards of any HB in SU history.

I hope he finds success at the next level!

Completely agree with this.

Allen showed what he can do. He rushed for 1000 very tough yards. He caught passes for another 500, showing very good hands and route running. He picked up blitzes like a pro. He dragged an NFL prospect linebacker three yards into the end zone in the biggest individual effort of the year, in one of the years biggest moments.

Allen is a Syracuse legend. He had nothing left to prove.

He would have finished top 3 in all time rushing yards and top 4 in all time receptions. Absolutely ridiculous and would have gotten his name in the rafters.

He should be celebrated and remembered as a legend. They don't make many dudes like LeQuint. I will be shocked if he doesn't get the chance to stick in the league. For many reasons.

Here's the calculus for you on the compensation.

Let's say LQA can earn $200K in NIL at SU if he returned next season. That could be low or high, I'm not really sure - but a guess.

If you make a practice squad for an entire season, for a rookie with under two years experience you make $12,500/week or $225,000 for 18 weeks.

Essentially he's betting on himself to make a practice squad, at minimum. It goes up after that (if he makes a 53-man roster, if he gets called up for a game to the active roster). Could also be some small bonus money and training camp stipends as he works out with teams as well.

It's a grind, but there's more earning potential at the next level. More of a guarantee at SU. Don't blame him. He's earned that right.

LeQuint had EVERY right to tell SU to flip off and put the school in his rear view after the egregious way he was treated in the offseason 2 years ago.

He came back and excelled for 2 seasons. He owes us NOTHING. In fact, given that bogus judiciary situation, he may owe us the least amount of nothing of any SU player ever.

I think he's got a real shot to make a practice squad as an UDFA. I'm 100% rooting for him, and I don't say that about most SU players once they've moved on.

Agree 100%. Sometimes coming back for another year can hurt a player. Look at Carson Beck from UGA.
