LeQuint Allen to NFL Draft

His ability to catch the ball will get him looks alone. I watch every single nfl game every week and half of these backs can’t catch a lob screen pass. Lequint was lined up in the slot sometimes this year and ran routes and caught it. That doesn’t happen often or ever with a RB

LQA is an SU legend. He was always very good from the moment we saw him in the Pinstripe Bowl 2 years ago. He was elite the second half of this season and the bowl game. Despite how incredible he was playing in November, we even started to see increasing snaps for Willis in the Miami game which he had that fumble, but suggests that Willis was gaining ground in practice. Mix in a healthy Nixon. I think we should be more than ok.
Man… this almost makes me tear up a little. Was at that game and forgot that was his first game starting. From that to the bogus suspension to where we were this year with a new coach, single handedly winning us some games such as UNLV and VT, and as others have said hurdling Miami to end it. What a 3 year career for LA. Will to succeed and refusal to be beat is something I saw out of Zaire Franklin and Mikel Jones, and now again with Lequint. Beasts

I love this player.

I remember his first game in the Pinstripe Bowl - how proud of that team I was battling Minnesota without a full squad.

LA battled that day and really impressed.

And this year, he gave us a truly remarkable performance.

I'll be rooting for him hard and will never count him out as he pursues his NFL dream.

I think OC Nixon knows what LQA can do, and his NFL connections will benefit LQA. At the very least Nixon can detail the RB’s intangibles and work ethic.
That's a great point. LQA has the football tough and skills except for size and even tougher with no size, he's not super quick or elusive. Blitz pick ups and running thru tackles is different in the league. Hopefully Nixon can grease a wheel.

I think his lack of speed, agility, elusiveness, and vision will make it hard for him to get drafted. He has value with his pass catching and blitz pickups so he’s sure to stick around a practice squad at the minimum. He ran over guys on a consistent basis here but that’s a pretty difficult thing to translate to the NFL.

I believe LQA’s last touch of the football was his touchdown reception in the Holiday Bowl. Seems like a fitting way to end his career as the leading receiver out of the backfield in SU history.
And last thing on the dome field was running to the fans hitting the cam ward celebration

He would be a #3 RB at best for most teams. So I guess what teams want to flip that position would be the spots to look at.

Yeah, RB draft status does not improve much after a good year let alone following back to back 1000 yard rushing seasons. Tucker did not benefit from coming back; Henderson at OSU has not benefited. It just adds mileage. LQA has elite pass catching skills and is tough between the tackles. I think LQA and Skattebo from ASU both have the skill set the NFL is looking for. No sense is rolling the dice in college when the NFL was always the goal
Tucker didn't "come back." His breakout year was his sophomore year. He didn't have a choice. He had to stay one more year.

  • Eligibility
The Senior Bowl is a showcase for top NFL prospects who have completed their college eligibility. However, for the first time in 2024, any underclassman who is eligible for the NFL Draft can be invited to play.
While I agree it should be about the best prospects getting a shot, they shouldn’t continue to call it the senior bowl if they do.

LeQuint Allen is a dynamic receiving back who declared early for the draft as a true junior. Allen has eclipsed 1,000 rushing yards in back-to-back seasons, but in 2024, he emerged as a weapon in the passing game. He ranked fourth among FBS running backs with 529 receiving yards and ran more routes from the slot than any back in the Power 4.

Allen has incredible burst out of his breaks and creates easy separation on slants and angle routes. He’s an instinctive runner between the tackles with good vision and anticipation of evolving rushing lanes. At 6-foot, 201 pounds, he doesn’t have great contact balance and struggles to drive his legs through tackles. He seems to hit a different gear in the red zone, however, and was actually an effective goal line back this year.

I said right after the Pinstripe bowl that he has as good of hands as any WR we have. He also runs really good routes. He’s a phenomenal receiver as a RB. He’s a Sean Payton type of RB but probably not the speed Payton likes. But if he goes to the right team, assuming he gets drafted or gets a UDFA offer and sticks, he could be a good backup option.

I disagree with the contact balance comment. I actually think his is pretty good. It’s certainly good at the goal line.
