LeQuint Allen to NFL Draft

Pass catching running backs are a premium in the NFL. Just one more receiver on the field when Lequint is playing.

You have a choice of Allen or Skattebo who you taking?

Allen may catch better, but Skattebo is bigger faster, runs harder, and makes people miss and caught 45 as well.

Neal for Kansas is a beast
Judkins is a better runner

It will come down to team needs really to where he gets picked.

His lack of speed is an issue he has to over come.

According to Mel Kiper, Lequint is the #3 RB. Have to say that I did not expect that.

Boy that would seemingly conflict with the majority of our board GMs . It's going to be fun seeing more Syracuse guys in the NFL, would love to see this young man selected. For the Mel haters, he is a data point. It will be interesting to see where mocks put LA in the coming months.

Allen

I don't think he's a third down back, which is why he is probably rated that high.

He's a three-down back, who happens to catch exceedingly well. So on a team with an established RB, he could certainly function as a third-down back, due to his superior receiving skills.

But he's a tougher runner than some give him credit for, as evidenced by numerous plays he made this year.

I 100% acknowledge that no NFL prospect is a sure thing, and maybe I'm wrong. But I think that rating is based upon him being such an exceptional receiver ON TOP OF being a tough runner.

he's a warrior and a great teammate. I think that teams will learn quickly that SU kids are solid play hard and are well coached. Fran is building an SEC program at SU

I wonder how much his speed will affect how well he can get open. I know there are WRs that make up for lack of speed by running great routes. Can he do the same?

Allen is an excellent, tough runner who can find seams in the defense; he is a very good blocker and he is an excellent receiver. Not many RB's are as good at all three things.

Lav Murray is way bigger than Allen.
Similar play styles and all around game. Similar strengths and weaknesses. Would not say he’s way bigger either. Sure he’s bigger but Allen will fill out a bit more once he gets to the NFL too. Sure Murray has an inch or two on Allen but so did my gf’s ex and that didn’t seem to matter (yet anyway)

Murray seemed to play faster as well. He turned the corner in the NFL. Allen can't do it in college.

Just not sure how he's going to "test" at the combine and good lord, they overact and overrated those tests SO much
