Let’s run it back

Give me 5 of him, he’s been great this year.

Cool but this convo had to do with if he’s an NFL player, not college. He’s had a great college year. But he has also dropped a bunch of passes and yesterday was no exception. A couple of easy ones at that. That’s not an NFL player. So you can have 5 of him at Syracuse, the NFL will likely pass for a variety of reasons.

Can Meeks come back? I thought he was done

I thought he was done to but that’s what the announcers said. OE posted his bio id say he’s done.

What about Wax? He’s fantastic but I think he makes more money by staying in college than by going pro? IMO, he’s not at the level of a Franklin but more so a Mikel Jones who I think primarily plays on an NFL practice roster. He to me is the biggest question.
Wax is just a tad too small for the NFL. Hopeful he comes back and makes some cake at cuse

LOL.

We as a fanbase sooooooo overvalue our players.

OG & McCord - absolutely getting drafted.

All those other guys, and I’ll also include Fadil Diggs, are likely looking at UDFA.

They are excellent college players, and I’m psyched they’re Orange.
But there’s guys like them all over college football.
Diggs is an NFL player. The rest would be lucky to be late rounders

I’m going to offer a thought on McCord. I’m not sure he’s an NFL level QB. He’s extremely accurate and throws guys open all over the field.

I just don’t think he has the arm strength. He’s a precision and timing QB. An elite one at that. But those open spaces are much smaller in the NFL.

He under throws deep routes and really struggles to throw the ball 55 yards(Hail Mary) in game conditions. He’s been picked six on 2-3 out routes and probably had 1-2 others that should have been.

I love him here. He’s been amazing, but I don’t see the zip that’s required in the NFL.

With the awareness of a blind turtle, if DeVito can make it than McCord can make it too.

I do see his lack of Arm strength as a potential problem but he has a quick release. He is extremely accurate, has excellent pocket awareness, is very smart, throws guys open, and is a leader.
I think he makes the league more as a backup but I can see him lasting a long time.

Sadly McCord is out of eligibility.

There are rumors that he has applied for an exemption from the NCAA but not sure if he actually did and if he did, if it would even be approved.

If I was the NCAA I would approve because what Ryan Day did to burn it for him at OSU was absolutely BS but you never know with the NCAA

I don’t think anything has officially been filed, but I do know that discussions have been had and avenues have been explored, for sure. I’d say there’s a somewhat better than 50% chance that if he decided to actually go through with applying for an extra year, he’d get it.

I don’t know one way or the other but the broadcast said Meeks had another year.
Those broadcasters are complete morons. For the 2nd week in a row Brenneman was ranting about how JRS didn’t have any production until his breakout game 2 weeks ago. Of course he failed to mention JRS never saw the field until 2 weeks ago bc he was injured.
Those guys are like low information announcers

Please, no more Shrader's. It's been soooo nice to have a QB who's a QB. Not a glorified RB or mobile TE who sometimes can complete a pass.
I agree about Kyle but with our offensive line the Shrader types make more sense. Not a lot of Kyle McCord's out there.

I'm all for mobile QBs. Emphasis on the QB. Shrader wasn't a QB, he was a glorified RB who could throw a halfway decent pass maybe 50% of the time.

Dungey-type? Sure, he was more QB than RB. But no more Shraders. Please.

Through yesterdays game, OG is ranked 45TH in the nation in All Conferences with 54 REC for 707 YDS. and 4 TDS.

Trebor Pena is ranked 41ST with 71 REC for 736 YDS and 5 TDS//

LQA is ranked 45TH with 169 ATT for 761 YDS and 11 TDS

For comparison sake the #1, 2, & 3 ranked receivers are:

1. Nick Nash SDSU - 95 REC - 1282 YDS 14 TDS / 6' 3" 195 WR
2. Harold Fanin BGSU - 83 REC - 1,170 YDS - 8 TDS / 6' 4" 230 TE
3. Tetairoa McMillan - 69 REC - 1,136 YDS - 7 TDS / 6' 5" 212 WR
10. Xavier Restrepo MIA - 55 REC - 934 YDS - 10 TDS / 5' 10" 198

I know OG is a great TE/WR but I 'd like to see him stay another year.

LeQuint is a baller - is he fast enough to be an NFL RB?

To be fair both OG and Pena are interior WRs. Can't compare their production to all WRs.

Agree. I’m not sure how long he lasts but I think his intelligence, ability to read defenses and throwing guys open will have some GM fall in love with him as a likely day three pick. He’s the type of guy who will interview very well too and impress coaches. It’s also a weak QB class so I can easily see him going fifth or sixth round. He can make NFL throws - if he had an elite arm he’d be a first round pick. Without that he will be likely day three.

Interesting. Offered by Alabama, Penn State, Tennessee, Florida, Miss St., Ole Miss, Nebraska, Arkansas, S Carolina, Missouri, Pitt, W Virginia, Vanderbilt, SU..and others coming out of high school as a 4 star QB.

And Ole Miss* made him a TE after his one year as QB. He came here because we were the school that'd let him play QB again. Because we were desperate.

You think we're 7-3 with Shrader as QB this season? Because I sure don't.

*edit: My mistake, it was Mississippi State. That makes it even worse.

He threw two maybe three outs from opposite hash marks against Cal that were dimes. Those are NFL throws. For instance, Shrader had a decent arm when he was healthy and he couldn't make that throw. Kyle will make a team.

In this offense, no. If the O was more fit to his skills, then yes. He wasn't as bad a passer as people make him out to be.

they all made a mistake it happens

He may have looked like a better passer in high school. Didn't he have some shoulder injuries? Leach knew.

He won us some big games, so I have nothing against the decision. But yeah, I'd be looking more for guys who are throw first, run second.

I was most impressed by the deep ball to OG over the middle on third and long or perhaps it was a fourth down and medium. Forget which. He made that decision before OG even made his cut and it was perfectly thrown.

Agree to disagree. We'd be wasting the best receiving corps we've had in 2 decades with a guy like him. He was a bad passer. I liked the guy, but I also watched the games.

it was fun and he won us some games. On a team like what we have now I could see him being an All Conference TE

Kyle does not have an elite arm. But lots of NFL QBs do not have elite arms. Throwing on time makes up for that. His main issue here is the pass blocking here often forces throws to be even earlier than that. He will get his shot. Whether he sticks or not really comes down to system and team he goes to.
