Looks like Austin is number 2

Wilson has been through 3 different styles of O. He is a frosh this year in terms of learning. This O is based on being able to make quick reads and throwing an accurate ball. Not on being able to run the option. Wilson is a passer. He throws a beautiful ball and has the strongest arm on the team. IF he can master the mental part of the game he has a chance to do well. We are lucky he is on the team as Zach as good as he was in Lesters O because of a good fit doesnt seem to be the best fit for this style of O. Think of the long balls that he missed on last year. Not saying he cant improve but running is his strength over passing vs Wilson who is a much better passer than runner.

Just wow. You know that Wilson can't grasp O concepts or make proper reads, how? Did I miss the coaches saying this? Or are you just a football savant that can tell that from watching him play 3 games in his career? How can YOU not know what he does in practices but YOU can tell he can't grasp an O? In addition most of his playing time came under the brilliant O mind of McFit, who couldn't grasp O concepts himself.

Zach improved his throwing? Did you miss the BC game? It was probably the 2nd worst passing performance I have ever seen from a P5 QB. Luckily the BC QB had the worst I have ever seen.

This. Mahoney is a nice story and did an adequate job during the Dungey absence, but there is a reason that we are seeing Austin Wilson get some mentions early on in camp. Would be SHOCKED if Mahoney hangs on to the #2 spot in this type of offense.

And as for Wilson not able to grasp concepts? How in the world would anyone on here truly know that? The answer: they wouldn't.

It will be interesting to see the Babers O. If it is a lot of passes around the LOS, then IMO that doesn't fit Wilson's strengths. My worry would be that Wilson is more of a thrower than a passer.

It's common knowledge that Wilson has struggled with the playbook since his arrival and you don't need to be a FB savant to observe that he needs to improve his feel in the pocket. As I mentioned above, none us know what goes on in practice but, for whatever reason(s), he's had difficulty climbing the depth charts of both OC's.

I understand that most of his PT came under the reign of McF**kit and that hurt his development. That's why I mentioned that I hope he finds Dino's offense a better fit. We need him (or Zach) to step-up so we don't have to force feed Rex.

The only real facts we have on Wilson is that he has thrown 58 passes in game action, completed 32 of those (55% CP), with 5 INTs. We also "know" that he is going to get 100s of reps in practice under a HC who absolutely knows what is needed from a QB in his system. Let's see how he performs in the Spring game. Good luck Austin.

Wilson had an OK game against FSU the first year, but he made a couple bad reads and throws but the reads in this offense had far different, much more pre snap, and how a QB plays when he runs for his life doesnt always define how good he can be when he doesnt.
