Looks like UConn will get to experience the ACC after all.

1.2 million. That is better than a lot of bowls payout.
At some point, you have to make decisions based on money alone. This was one of them.

Clemson is a great place for a college football fan to visit. I doubt any UConn fans are listening but if they are, I would encourage them to go to the game, see how big time football is done and enjoy the great hospitality of the Clemson fanbase. It is worth a visit.

I think you should post that on the Boneheadyard as a Cuse fan, it would really trigger those desperate wannabe's.

UConn is finally accepting that they are going to be a G5 for the foreseeable future. It will be interesting how their fanbase takes this news.

They got good money but now they are officially a mid-major.

From a UConn standpoint its an absolute no brainer. Your getting paid absolutely nothing with the AAC TV deal while the B10, ACC SEC etc are raking in 30-45 mill a year. Getting your hands on 1.2 million is money they desperately need.

I don't disagree but this is precedent for the future. You don't think SEC or Big Ten teams won't give the same paycheck to be cannon fodder.

UConn accepting their mid-major status does hurt their brand a little. This will drip, drip more and they are highly unlikely to end up in the B10 or ACC.

We basically did with the games at MetLife. That has to be next for UConn.

Oh I agree it definitely sets a bad precedent and clearly a Power 5 team isn't doing a one off unless there desperate need of a game (see SU at Mizzou a few year ago). That said with there conference not really having a marquee program (maybe Houston) and the lack of funds this is the type of game UConn needed to schedule. I think they should have went for a 2-1 but getting 1.2 million softens the blow a bit.

I'm sure they will fully expect a grand victory now that Edsal has returned - did you know he led them to a 3-way tie for the big east championship one year and a fiesta bowl. Clemson is in big trouble.

According to NJ.com, Rutgers will be paying Liberty $1 million and UMass $1.3 million. I don't know what SU pays for one-off games.

well, Rutgers' athletic department is flush with cash and running huge cash surpluses every year, so..... no, wait, I'm thinking of legitimate B1G schools - sounds like student fees are going up again in Piscataway :rolling:

the glass house rule has never been a strong point for the board here.
That's a solid 5% or 27% discount.

Rutgers will, of course, be able to offset the cost with ticket sales, parking and concessions from the 648 fans who are projected to attend the game - reducing the net loss by $6-7 thousand.

Nah, their state assembly is used to covering these sorts of failures.
