He was given a win or your out ultimatum supposedly here.
heavens to betsy, not that!

GoSU96 said:There were people calling him to be fired in 2011 and 2012 on this board. He was given a win or your out ultimatum supposedly here. And that was before they add a late season road game at Missouri. The greatest outrage here was from the non supporters when he left, it was a joke. A big percentage of Bills fans and Buffalo media wanted him gone last year. And none of that has anything to do with the job he did at both places.
Do not be surprised to see him land a HC gig in the NFL soon.
Further, about the posts questioning his "loyalty" and if he would stick around, all of those things can be taken care of within the covenants of the contract. But I think that's getting ahead of ourselves. If he lands a HC job, he's not going to try and get out of dodge any time soon.
Haters gon' hate.
A big part of the problem for SU and the Bills is that it just doesn't matter how fans, owners, administrators think of Marrone or if they want him to stay - he wasn't fired - he just leaves. He's never felt the need to explain why he leaves teams so I'd find it difficult to commit to a man as your head coach who you can't ever really trust is ever committed to the job nor your team. As a fan, he's the type of guy who you'd also better not care if he's your head coach or not, or else you would be upset.
If you're an SU and Buffalo Bills fan (as if regular life wasn't bad enough), it's pretty easy to dislike him.
If you're a Doug Marrone fan, I guess it's easy to like him. Not my perspective though. But credit to him, he certainly has a following.

Rocco said:I am a Giants fan, and while this year was a disaster, we've won 2 Super Bowls in the last 8 years. If I were a Bills fan, well, I'd probably just hate myself. At least Marrone was over .500 last year with that calamity up there. Rex had Tyrod Taylor, Charles Clay and Shady McCoy added into what Marrone was working with (Manuel and Kyle Orton). EJ Manuel was NOT Marrone's pick, contrary to popular belief. He took a put option and bounced not knowing what the new ownership was going to do. His agent, the great Jimmy s e xton, advised him to do so. It wasn't a temper-tantrum type of exit like many try to fabricate it was. As an SU fan, we need to accept that we are a stepping stone school. Marrone walked into a legit shitt-bomb here, was able to stop the football defecating and have some mild success, then left when the top dogs came calling. "Dream job" is purely a presser sales pitch to get people jacked up. I love how many of you still hang on to that. I fully expect all of you to loyally remain in your current job forever, and you'd better not take any sort of promotion. If you do, you are an asshat clown who cannot be trusted.
You'd hate yourself over a football team? Sheesh. If I were a Bills fan, well, I'd probably just hate myself.

Just like to laugh at their fans. They're delusional at best.

Why?
i think there's more to it than that for youJust like to laugh at their fans. They're delusional at best.
Promotions are within the company.
People - guys like Jim Boeheim - take a hometown discount for their dream job.
The deal with Marrone, honestly, with his SEC and NFL background - bullsh1t is just part of the job. The fanbase at SU with it's unique stable of coaches just never dealt with it;

if marrone ever sees the light on real basic stuff, which is quite possible, I can see him being successful. football guys know what they know and they can benefit from taking a step back.People get carried away with Marrone on both ends, the man love and the hatred. Like you said, most people who are Bills fans didn't want the guy fired but weren't in love with him either. He walked away because he thought he could get the Jets gig or another one, IMO. It backfired on him for at least a year as far as his rep goes, he had a good out clause, took advantage of it will be hired again at some point as a HC. Look at all the other coaches out there that get rehired. I think Doug is a good coach not a great coach but he needs more games to prove either way and I bet he gets a gig this year, if he goes that route. I think the Tenn job will be perfect for him, it's also in what looks like a weak conference. Issue is he will be coaching 2 a year versus his old team and his very good friend in BOB, won't stop him but not ideal
People love to bang the drum though

i doubt dino babers is some physicist genius, he just happened to end up with briles and saw how well it worked and ran with it.
marrone could be quite good with a qb he believes in, needs to get over this white knuckle shart and stop punting all the time. just relax a little bit
