Looks like we could Doug Marrone as the next Tennessee Titans HC

I don't care about the Bills, but the one time that that situation really got to me was 4th and 6 inches from the 2 in OT vs Rutgers. Instead of going for the 1st down and TD and forcing Rutgers to need a TD, we take the FG which allowed Rutgers to tie it with a FG. We lost the 2nd OT when Bailey fumbled after Rutgers took the lead with a FG. I lost it at the post game tailgate.

Gotcha. I'd love to read about that, if anyone can share details.
I'd a...well...grab a seat, order a late dinner, have a few beers , then hit the hay till morn.

I think o-nirvana just threw him for quite the loop.

Gonna be a bit to spin this.

Here's to doogie not quitting on the interview process because, well...he has to interview.

Such the inconvenience.

Not worth the hassle.

Marrone's propensity for wussy game management decisions is well-documented.

And you're full of crap regarding Buffalo as "the old guard doing things the old way."

4th and 5 isn't 4th and 2, and it was a two score game with 14 minutes left.

In two years, there is exactly ONE play that fits that scenario, some trend.

In two seasons 4th and 5 or less from the opponents 4o or in (not counting FG), 8 runs or passes, 3 punts. Other punts were in the 1st quarter 4th and 5 in a 0-0 game against KC, the other up 9-0 4th and 4 against Miami at home.

Yeah, Marrone is out of the box, more meaningless nonsense from you. But that's been going on for years.

Two years, 4th and 1 between their 4o and the opponents 30

Buffalo punted 7 of 12 times.

Cinci 9 of 16, Oakland 8 of 12, Arizona, 6 of 11, Seattle, 6 of 10, NE, 6 of 9, Indy 5 of 11, GB 5 of 9, KC 5 of 7, Philly 5 of 7, Pitt, 4 of 9, Den 4 of 6.

Checkmate! Nice find...yet why bother Go?

I've never seen such polarizing over 1 person who left us years ago. I think FHCDM did a good, not great job because he left early, but the facts are he took us out of the darkest period in SU football. So then he left...so what? We went from 10-37 under Grob to 25-25 under Marrone - those are the facts.

With Shafer these past 3 years especially last 2 we were teetering to go back to those dark years again. 14-23.

Time to move on. Marrone will make it or break it during this next go around, assuming if he gets hired as a HC for another pro team. So what? Nuff said.

Yeah, 4 times in two years in the 4th quarter, from their 46 with 8:30 left down 2, from their 26 with 11:20 left down 3, from the 50 down 1 with 10:30 left, and down 4 from their 41 with 7 left, so actually it was only twice inside of ten minutes, and not once on the plus side of the field.

In 3 of 4 instances their win probability improved, so purely by the numbers it was the right decision. The one time it didn't it was because the punt went 5o yds for a touchback.

I remember that game like it was yesterday. It was the game where Marrone lost me as a supporter of his. It was one of the worst coached games I have ever seen a head coach have.

All a part of the great and famous Saint Doug rope-a-dope. Those mediocre years were all a setup for 2012 where he unveiled his secret weapon offense. Guy is magic. Legend.

his punts against USC in NY were the worst and in the dome vs louisville in 2010 were next.

maybe he uses analytics about how much protein shakes his guys should drink but he doesn't use it in the easy obvious ways

From the publication that brought us "Pegula gave Whaley and Ryan an ultimatum" only for it to be refuted just moments later. Quite the reliable source there.

But I'm sure Scott Berchtold and the athletic trainer were to blame for an anemic offense and Marrone's lack of understanding of basic probability. Maybe Marrone should focus more on why he sucks at his job before whining about others who have little to nothing to do with the product we see on the field on Sundays.

Poor guy has been trying to revolutionize the game but those damn sports information directors just won't let him.

Your original point was that Marrone was some conservative meathead dinosaur that would be opposed to using advance analytics. That article, obviously, was to point out that he wasn't some stuck in the past dinosaur, and he was trying to modernize how things were being done in Buffalo, but nice job conflating things with your standard bs.

The fact is that the guy has been using those tools since NO for a wide range of objectives so working with the new players with the Browns wouldn't be a problem for him at all, unlike what the uniformed here want to assert.

If Marrone has a problem with basic probability how about all those other coaches who did the same thing about the same percentage of time or the fact that in those four horrible decisions over four years the win percentage improved 3 out of 4 times.

Maybe you need to understand probability better.

Chicks love a man in uniform, Go.

Honestly, I'm rooting for Marrone to get another HC gig at this point. I think the hilarity potential is off the charts if he lands in Cleveland, where they don't have a QB, have a damaged fanbase, and they're going all chips in on a baseball analytics nerd. What could go wrong?

nothing.

they are going make him take Scotty Bowman as his DC.

Championship......

so the man quit HS and quit on his Syracuse teammates too.

a real leader of men here!!

this guy will step in Coughlin's shoes like theyve been his for decades!!
Then, after tying only one, will leave to try to step into some other coach's shoes.

I think Doug Marrone is going to get the Miami Dolphins job. It seems like Parcells is helping Tannenbaum behind the scenes and Parcells likes Marrone.

Marrone has the same agent as Parcells that stuff matters.

Marrone and South Beach is like soup and sandwich. That said - I could see it happening.
