Lopez Lomong world best time in the 5k

You may or may not be familiar with this young man originally from the Sudan. He was raised in Tully NY by foster parents and carried the American flag at the 2008 Olympics.​

At the end of the CBS Nightly News tonight they showed a video of him pausing to celebrate...one lap early in the 5K at Stanford over the weekend. "Oops," Lomong recalled thinking. "This is not good."​

He went on to win the race going away despite that miscalculation. He also earned the Olympic A standard qualifying time in the process.​
