You may or may not be familiar with this young man originally from the Sudan. He was raised in Tully NY by foster parents and carried the American flag at the 2008 Olympics.
At the end of the CBS Nightly News tonight they showed a video of him pausing to celebrate...one lap early in the 5K at Stanford over the weekend. "Oops," Lomong recalled thinking. "This is not good."
He went on to win the race going away despite that miscalculation. He also earned the Olympic A standard qualifying time in the process.
This is pretty funny at the lap before the end
Can't find the short version
I know this isn't a pro sport but there is no board for track & field & I know we have quite a few runners on the board.
Central New York is very proud of this young man who once breathed our air and ran for his life in the Sudan.
