Lou Holtz and one of the biggest stories of the last few years

He mis-spoke...jesus some of you don't get it. He didn't mean the Pac 12 he meant the Big 12 and he still thought Maryland was in the ACC. He just mis-spoke...it's like some of you have never messed up at work before. He's on LIVE TV, it happens. Happens to the best of them. My god, what did Lou Holtz run over your dog or something? He mis-spoke...get over it!

Anyone with an IQ over 5 can figure out what he meant. But the Internet Trolls who live a perfect life...just love to pile on someone for a simple mistake that is no big deal. But now people like you will start FIRE LOU HOLTZ petitions probably sitting in your parents basement cause you have nothing else going on.
I take it by your defense of Holtz that you never watched it as he explained immediately after his reasons for picking the pac12 over the ACC. He said there are other top teams in the PAC12 that are better than the other ACC TEAMS.

This has taken a turn to a FAUX NEWS slant

So much for that excuse.

I don't consider myself a troll, unless I might get a laugh. In this instance, Holtz, a perpetual "mis-speaker" put his foot in his mouth on a very large scale. I enjoy CFB and I follow as close as I am able. I am not paid to comment on CFB, as much as I would be happy doing so, I haven't been able to find a sucker...er...employer. That said, I do expect that announcers know more than I do. They watch CFB for a living, they go to great games, different places weekly, have a staff to assist them and make them look good with facts, figures, insights, videos, analysis, etc. Holtz, the perpetual mis-speaker, botched his point so bad that it made no sense on multiple fronts. Regardless, he adds nothing to CFB worth keeping him around, though I am happy he is able to find work.

If you want to be happy guessing what he "really" means to say, you are free to do so. Most of us will call it as we see it, he is senile and we don't want to guess what CFB announcers "really" mean. They have a show, a fat paycheck and the opportunity to express their opinion, they should be able to get that much right with me having to perform mental acrobatics to arrive at some esoteric meaning that only a few are apparently worthy of knowing. If I want to watch a mystic, I will call Miss Cleo or one of her ilk, instead, I choose to watch CFB.

P.S. My I.Q. is over 5 and I still don't want to guess what someone means when offering me their opinion.

Lou Holtz gets paid 7 figures to yammer about something as trivial as college football and he doesn't even have the professional to get his facts straight ? Pathetic .

So much for that excuse.
when I read his first post (stern)I knew right then and there he didn't watch it as Holtz followed up immediately why he choose the PAC12 over the ACC.

So you're saying he was wrong about every single fact upon which he based a theory that made no sense in any event - as if that's like a bad thing.

How do you know he meant the Big 12? Talk about attributions.

Normally I'd be inclined to side with your take. After all, sports media personalities are often on the air for hours on end, which means lots of time to make irrelevant, minor mistakes. But this isn't just mis-speaking or one mistake as you're trying to portray. He said that Maryland was in the ACC [mistake #1]. He said that WVU was in the Pac 12 [mistake #2]. And he then went on to say that this game outcome proved that the Pac 12 was better than the ACC instead of the Big 12 being better than the Big 10, which are the respective conferences that the two teams are actually in [mistake #3].

It's one thing to get a name wrong or mis-remember a fact here or there. That's totally understandable. It's another thing entirely to espouse completely flawed analysis based upon not understanding the facts. And clearly, Holtz forgot or didn't know the relevant facts underlying the topic at hand. He deserves criticism for that--we're talking about P5 here, not some development in the Sun Belt or Ivy League that few people are paying attention to anyway.

This wasn't just a slip of the lip [no pun intended, given his general mush-mouthedness] or getting a minor detail wrong--his entire analysis was flawed. Which is why he deserves criticism, as a college football studio "expert."

We could save a lot of bandwidth if posters would comment on what posters say and not upon the posters themselves.
