There’s different kinds of long balls though. If you can loft it high *and* far it gives receivers time (especially guys like JRS and Gill and Cook who can win 50/50 balls in single coverage), or fast *and* far you can do a back shoulder.

If all you can do is get it far in general terms then you can make some good HS plays but at this level you’ll just throw broken plays and picks. These corners and high safeties are all running 10.x in the dash and can turn on a heel.

I dunno. It would’ve been nice to see more but I guess I’m saying I think Luke’s eval as a RS project to add arm strength makes sense, he will. Good luck to him.

The game was moving too fast for Rickie, and it led to panic throws too often.

Maybe it slows down with more reps, who knows. But for some, it takes dropping out of P4 for it to slow down.

Rickie's better than Filardi, so there's that? I do wish Rickie started the BC game (they were one of the worst pass defenses in college football) and they just told him let it rip. There aren't enough people in the Dome to even care about boos.

I think they should have started Villari against BC - remember he was 14 of 14 against WV (???).

The only play I saw him, he ran in for a TD. I think it was his first college play and then they pulled him, IIRC.

Kind of like Will Clark's first at bat in the majors, and he hits a HR off of Nolan Ryan!

Rickie’s helmet comes off, staff did not have a plan thought out in advance and sends in Carney for one play, he runs in a short TD against Colgate and burns 1 of his 4 redshirt games for 5 seconds. Villari should have taken the snap.

Nixon did Rickie no favors trying to plug-and-play him into the system Angeli started to thrive in. OC should have adapted to the new QB’s skills quicker and better.

Filardi’s ball
Dude can spin it. Threw a few heaters that earned my respect. 2 years development at the right P4 and he could be a winner at that level. Expecting great things from him with a long stick middie.

I think he was just burning the program by showing that there was a play for 3rd and 9 designed for him.

On the other hand, it is against our defense... so it does not show he could have passed the ball against one of our last 8 opponents.

Thanks for the clarification. But when I read your original post above I didn't read it as a joke. If that's what you meant maybe you can do a quick edit to indicate that. Like maybe add "[sarcasm]". My initial reaction was you/re being "just a bit" harsh. I agree with your capitalized statement in quoted post. My thoughts exactly. Talk about not knowing how best to use him -- for him and for us. One might think it was Autry who was coaching. [I know, I know. A little strong.]

Let’s see if this prediction is correct and we will have our answer when he is playing for another team. He decided to redshirt because he planned on leaving…coaches did not want us to see how well he played. Therefore, there were no passing plays.

I was one of the people just baffled by the staff's handling of Carney and haven't been buying what the staff was trying to sell on him. Wherever it was, they straight up bungled some stuff with Carney.

He only threw 7 times and completed 5, something our other 2 backups were incapable of doing throwing complete passes to players on our team. But the other 2 were great at completing passes to the other team, and missing everyone by 10 yards.

Using the lacrosse player was a bad choice by the staff.
