a) He’s from Texas, and we have a REALLY low success rate in keeping kids from Texas. Not sure exactly why (although I have my suspicions), but the fact remains that of the few Texas kids we land, most transfer out pretty quickly. The only exception I can think of in recent memory is Koda Martin, and it’s hard to enter the portal when you live in the head coach’s basement.
b) He knows he’s got no shot as long as Angeli is here, which looks like through 2027. Angeli wasn’t on the roster when he signed, so he may have thought he had a clearer shot at starting this year or next.
