Lydon to hire agent and enter NBA draft

Happy for the kid and maybe this is wrong of me but ill remember him for how soft he was his last 10 or so games, at least thats how i feel now. Kid was half out the door at the end of the year and played scared. That being said, hope he achieves all his dreams and cant blame a guy for going to the league.

I will remember how many tough rebounds, tip outs, blocks and altered shots he was responsible for during one of the program's 5 final four runs. Best of luck to the kid.

Is there an advantage to committing to the draft before going through the workouts and evaluations? I really don't get that aspect of it.

Lydon was dead set on the NBA before the season even started. Boeheim had convinced him to not hire an agent and go through evaluations as I told you guys but as of today he has told the staff he is dead set on the NBA again and for sure is not coming back. Tough break and great kid but he replaceable.

We going the grad route again for a 3 and a pg?

Going to miss him if he goes. Either way, it's his decision, not ours. I'm very thankful - great player, gamer and seemed like a positive teammate. Pumped up Robey and Malachi during that great run.

Thanks for the memories, Tyler. And Robey, JG, AW, DC.

Would assume so, unless Ayala and Durate end up coming here and there are some obsticales before that happens. Like the kid that plays the 3 from overseas too. Doubt we get all of them but definitely expect us to go the grad route for a 3 at the least

I'm oddly ok with Howard/Washington at PG next year. Give Frank 30mpg and 10mpg to Washington. Then the following year, we'll have Senior Frank, Sophomore Washington and hopefully a stud freshman. Washington can play some 2 since Battle will be gone.

Unless the plan is to redshirt Howard Washington and grab a 5th YR PG. No need to burn a year from Washington if he'd be the 3rd PG.

As big as Battle and TT will next year - a big part of our success will be based on Frank

I'll remember him as the one guy banging the boards, battling defensively in the paint, and playing smart.

I'm not. Those SC, GTown, UConn games are hard to forget. I'm not optimistic on Howard playing 30 mpg at point guard. There's times where he sees the floor well and moves the ball nicely. But he was horrid in transition, his handle is shaky, and the poise and leadership you need out of a starting PG...I saw none of it.

I'm ok with him as the 3rd guard. I think he'll improve and be better at that role. But starting PG...I'm hoping we leave no stone unturned trying to find someone better.

Fair enough. I'm trying to be cautiously optimistic because even though Gillon had his moments, I think it's going to be really hard for a 5th YR to come in and run the point. I think it's easier to plug in a 3 to our system and the back of the zone than it is to plug in a PG. Not that we shouldn't exhaust all options, but I have my doubts about that.

We've seen flashes from Howard, granted they've been few and far between - but his shot has improved, he's decent at the top of the zone, and there were a few games this year where he was able to penetrate when no one else was (except Battle). I think one of the things that I saw a lot when Frank was able to penetrate was he always found Robey on the baseline about 8 ft from the rim, which is a spot Robey could not do anything with the ball. Hopefully Moyer/Brissett/Grad Transfer will be more likely to finish from that spot

Am I
100% confident with Frank as our starting PG? No. Will I completely write off the season as a failure in OCtober if our only PG's are Frank and Howard Washington? No.

I hope.

I know Boeheim brought up Scoop. I know he wasn't great as a freshman, but I always liked him and thought he'd develop into a pretty good player. Just had more confidence there.

I hope Howard does come on. You never know, sometimes guys surprise.

Come October I'm sure I'll be focusing on the positive and seeing 25 wins and sweet 16 minimum, no matter what.

are you able to elaborate on the bolded?
He might be referring to what Francis03 has mentioned in his pods -

Ayala doesn't have test scores yet and it took the NCAA clearinghouse forever to clear Diallo and they both go to Putnam Science. Ayala obviously needs to take the SAT/ACT before anything happens. So the thought is even if he does take them soon, based on how long it took them with Diallo, Ayalya might not get cleared in time to reclassify to 2017

Durate is from Puerto Rico I believe - so there might be more digging to be done than normal as far as if his transcripts are legit.

Obvoiusly CuseMan4 could be talking about something totally different

Test scores/grades really. Durate has a couple other things that may not be big deals but I don't know if I should say anything honestly
Right on, thanks

I dont consider passing up shots when youre wide open and the best shooter on the team smart. I think tyler has the best looking shooting stroke ive ever seen from an orangemen. Maybe the issue is i had too high if expectations. Thats my fault.

Just throwing my two cents out on a fan board. Wish the young man the best and hope he succeeds.

I think he was often uncomfortable out there this year due to the lack of flow we often had. Not a good passing team. Maybe he overcompensated.

I will disagree that he was the best shooter. As good as Lydon was, White was a better shooter. That guy is as pure as it comes.

Derrick Coleman is going off on twitter about Syracuses recent early departures for anyone interested!

?? Did he delete them? Most recent thing I see is him replying to Webber calling DC and Steve Smith his heroes, and before that a congrats to Hopkins.

It's in reply to the syracusememes twitter handle...

Hasn't Ayala already taken both? I recall hearing and reading SAT in January, with ACT scheduled shortly thereafter.

The players I enjoy watching the most are the ones that always play hard. TL did that.

Played out of position most of the time. Really would have benefited by having a real PG to get him the ball in good positions. Rebounded like a manic down the stretch this season.

Thanks for playing here Tyler. Good luck in the NBA.
