MAC AD

If we're competing for ACC titles it I'll drive him to his job interviews.
Me too...ahh shoot Dino my bad you didn't get there on time.

Orange colored glasses on.

He is 54 going to be 55
His offense will be in an indoor climate controlled environment.
His road games (6 of them) will for the most part be in the south.
If he has 3 good years here, he's pushing 60, other schools may pass.

I think this sets up beautifully, and hopefully is the reason he chose Syracuse. LGO!
Exactly the prospect of us winning 8-9 games is so foreign people worrying about a coach we haven't hired yet getting us to that point is ridiculous. What if he bombs in the acc. We don't know

Then we do this again in 5 more years.

I'm just skeptical of how many Big Boys be coming after a guy in his late 50's.
I assume...there will be a couple looking for a quick fix...but it is all speculation. BTW after season 3 he would be 57...older but not ancient...he could give a bigger program 7-10 great seasons if not more.

First we have to hire him...then he has to start to win...it might take 2-3 seasons (see Willie Taggart)

I'm pretty sure that if he goes 7-5 or 8-4 here and has some good success in his first few years, that will be enough to make bigger (not the biggest) programs come calling. Teams know that even getting Syracuse to the second tier in the ACC is no easy feat (actually, it hasn't been done yet). I mean, heck, doing it in the BE got Marrone a NFL head coaching job. And honestly, if Dino does come here and does get Syracuse to the level of the the Louisville's of the ACC for a few years, I'm MORE than happy to see him go and try to get a nicer, better paying gig. My biggest worry, actually (besides the fact that he'd fail here), is that he does have some or even a lot of success here and wants to stay, but we're not willing to pony up the cash to match what other schools would offer (3-5 million.)

We will be the only team in the ACC playing the Baylor offense. Not everyone wants to play that way and of course it is not a cold weather one.

His options may be limited to G5 teams and not the big boys.

More importantly, Coyle may be able to structure a pretty good contract making it tough for all but the big boys.

Babers can own the town if he does what I think we will do and that will be worth something to him and his family.

Irony:

1990's--->Baylor fans saying I wish we could have a program like Syracuse

2010's--->Syracuse fans saying I wish we could have a program like Baylor

True story...I was in Texas in the early 90's and on more than one occasion I had a Baylor fan saying that they wished they could be like Syracuse in FB.

Can we stop all the posts that discuss what SU won't pay? No one out here knows anything about the finances, what has been offered and ESPECIALLY what might be offered 3+ years from now. Amazing how "facts" are created out here by a single post that then spreads to every post. No one here knows a thing about what or what might not have happened with Frost, who has been spoken with and anything to do with dollars. Yet post after post retreads "facts" about SU being cheap, etc.

The new AD was brought in the fix football. He was part of a major success at a tougher sell than SU. He knows what he is doing. He understands the business side of NCAA sports. His career is riding in large part on SU's success. Do you think he came here knowing he could not do the things necessary to give football a chance to succeed? I doubt he took a job where a lot of his future rides on football knowing he was never going to be able to compete money-wise.

If Babers goes, then we just get another Baylor guy. We will be the northeast baylor. even if everyone else runs that offense, Pitt, CCNJ, and BC aren't likely to. If you run the right offense, you have built in stability. The dome and the pro-style of inklings of meatheads elsewhere will allow us to be unique. FINALLY

Unique in both region AND conference.

Let it rip.

It's been a steep dropoff.

Seems like a lifetime ago. There's been an entire generation of kids who've grown up without SU football being any good [except for an outlier season or two]. Hard to believe.

If he comes in and wins 8 next year - which is a possibility - he could leave. his stock might not be higher

chill out man.

sure thing. point is he could leave any time. people talking about 3, 4, 5 years and his age are nitwits. discussing it like it's an actual concern is stupid.

it provides context to the younger folk who don't realize how dynamic we were in the 90s and provides hope to everyone that our best days are ahead of us.

If we can attract a coach like Babers after going for 3 wins and 4 wins i would imagine we could attract a very solid replacement for Babers if he leaves after a few good seasons. Syracuse is a national brand and with the Dome being redone we are going to become a much better destination in the future than we are today. Also did i say how happy i am that we didnt get Frost!

I doubt it...I think if we get to 6 wins I'll be ecstatic.

we were close to being a 6 win team this year. I could see 7-8 wins next year if things go right.
