Malachi Richardson at Jordan Brand Classic

You college career only happens once. The NBA money is great but the college experience is priceless!

For normal Joe Shmoes like you and I maybe, but I doubt Lebron or Kobe, or a laundry list of guys who skipped college or even some guys who only played a year wouldn't have changed a thing or wish they could have gone straight to the league.

I know you are a deep data guy. I was wondering what the numbers would be of the second round draft choices average time in the NBA and overall average professional earnings. It would be very ironic if it turns out getting a college degree actual pays off better in the long term. Every player thinks they are the next Lebron or Kobe of course so how can you resist short term satisfaction. But I see your point about money is everything. Especially if you need it.

I'm sure the NBA career of a second round pick isn't very long, if they even have one. But if you're good enough to be a second round pick you're good enough to carve out a career overseas.

Even Gmac pulled out hundreds of thousands of dollars from his very short lived career and even to this day probably has earned more from his pro career than some of his classmates.

I'm in the school of, go to school, leave when the percentages are on your side and collect while you can, put money aside and go back to school or take classes online during your playing days and get the degree and either go into coaching or in the field that you got your degree in.
No matter what, these guys should be fine, it's all about the contingency plan they come up with or lack thereof. Balls in their court.

Why do people presume you can't do both.

Sarcasm? It was just a funny story. It wasn't meant to justify not going into the NBA. My post was a response to someone sticking them self with pencil and bleeding during an exam. It just made me think of what I did which then made me think about the Babs story.

As a result of this post it doesn't mean I support Hillary Clinton. I thought I would just say that before you concluded it from my post.
Yes, Dave, it was a funny story. I even "liked" your post before responding, so you needn't let your imagination run wild. To paraphrase Freud, sometimes sarcasm is just sarcasm.

And that he didn't sign with an agent leaves me hopeful he thinks he will return (or he at least thinks there's a good chance he'll return)
