Sad Season 2 GIF by Friends

My (now) ex-wife's friend was visiting and planned to return home. Because the game was so exciting we were watching the game (second overtime, if I recall) and her husband called to ask if she was coming home. She gave him the rundown and he tuned in. A diehard PSU fan was watching the game, discussing it with his wife (Not generally a sports fan) who was watching the game at our house. They were both going crazy at the end of each overtime and at the end of the game. Obviously, my family was going crazy, too, though I think this board would assume such.

To think now we’re at divorcee night at the Marriott watching the 14-18 Orange play against SMU in Charlotte. SMDH.

Will never forget the UConn fans in my section having to leave early cause the last train back to CT was leaving. Didn’t get back to Brooklyn until 2:30 in the morning.

My partner from work and I (who were at the game as part of a promo that a fund company who was a BET sponsor back then was doing) of course missed the last train out of GCT…

… so we spent the night drunkenly wandering around NYC, until finally GCT opened up again (I never knew it actually closes for a few hours each night/early am) and took the first train home.

Pretty much slept that whole day, had no voice still the next day.

Totally. Worth. It.

Sheesh. I can vaguely remember feeling at the time going into that game that we were having a so-so year, nothing to be excited about. We were ranked 18th in the nation. Alas
The Big East was so stacked that year too. We had a run in January/February where 7/10 games were ranked teams where we had a bit of a lull and our ranking dropped. But coming off the two NIT years and two first round exits, I loved that team.

Funny that I thought the four year stretch with no NCAA wins was the worst it would ever get.

That was my first ever BET game. Work was not fun the next day.

My youngest son, who is now an SU grad, was nine at the time. He came into my bedroom while I was watching the game, complaining that he wasn't feeling well. During the 3rd OT, he threw up all over the bed and beyond. I spent the 3rd and 4th OTs cleaning things up. After that the game was still going and we were treated to a 5th and 6th OT, and ultimately a GREAT win for SU. Obviously a night we will always remember!

My wife was pregnant with my oldest then. Hard to believe I had no kids watching that game, probably the reason I could stay up through the whole thing. Boy expectations for SU basketball were so different back then. I remember being annoyed they weren't better, haha.

That was me too. Bolted after the 4th OT so I could make the last train out of Grand Central. Thankfully I was able to follow the GameCast play-by-play on my flip phone and kept the UConn fans appraised of the score. :)

I always shake my head when I'd see UConn "6th Boro" tshirts. You b****** take Metro North. We take the Subway.

I remember it well. I was exhausted that night. I had to turn off the radio and get ready for bed. I turned in and turned on the radio and the game was still on. The time does fly by. Just thinking, my grand daughter was just a baby and now she is a recruited soccer player.

Another example of fine SU fans assisting the less fortunate. Glad you were able to graciously provide Husky fans with such an important a public service. I trust you enjoyed the duty.
