Oh my. Those were the days, my friends.
To think now we’re at divorcee night at the Marriott watching the 14-18 Orange play against SMU in Charlotte. SMDH.My (now) ex-wife's friend was visiting and planned to return home. Because the game was so exciting we were watching the game (second overtime, if I recall) and her husband called to ask if she was coming home. She gave him the rundown and he tuned in. A diehard PSU fan was watching the game, discussing it with his wife (Not generally a sports fan) who was watching the game at our house. They were both going crazy at the end of each overtime and at the end of the game. Obviously, my family was going crazy, too, though I think this board would assume such.
Will never forget the UConn fans in my section having to leave early cause the last train back to CT was leaving. Didn’t get back to Brooklyn until 2:30 in the morning.
The Big East was so stacked that year too. We had a run in January/February where 7/10 games were ranked teams where we had a bit of a lull and our ranking dropped. But coming off the two NIT years and two first round exits, I loved that team.Sheesh. I can vaguely remember feeling at the time going into that game that we were having a so-so year, nothing to be excited about. We were ranked 18th in the nation. Alas
That was me too. Bolted after the 4th OT so I could make the last train out of Grand Central. Thankfully I was able to follow the GameCast play-by-play on my flip phone and kept the UConn fans appraised of the score. Will never forget the UConn fans in my section having to leave early cause the last train back to CT was leaving. I always shake my head when I'd see UConn "6th Boro" tshirts. You b****** take Metro North. We take the Subway. Will never forget the UConn fans in my section having to leave early cause the last train back to CT was leaving. Didn’t get back to Brooklyn until 2:30 in the morning.
I remember it well. I was exhausted that night. I had to turn off the radio and get ready for bed. I turned in and turned on the radio and the game was still on. The time does fly by. Just thinking, my grand daughter was just a baby and now she is a recruited soccer player.
Another example of fine SU fans assisting the less fortunate. Glad you were able to graciously provide Husky fans with such an important a public service. I trust you enjoyed the duty. That was me too. Bolted after the 4th OT so I could make the last train out of Grand Central.
