Pretty hollow words, in my opinion. All of those words like "loyal" and "brotherhood" should mean a little more. I get the reality - he's more loyal to his actual family and is doing what he has to do to take care of them - but if everything he says is truth, then the old school guy in me says you stay in the place that treats you well. He'll get to the league whether it's here or somewhere else, so why not stay?
To answer my own question, it's the immediate money. I blame the system, not him, but to put the veneer of those words over it just feels false.
But I'm a middle-aged guy typing from my armchair. This is a different world for these guys than the world I knew in college.
I'm resigned to putting my trust in Fran's leadership and enjoying everything season by season. Game day festivities, the occasional roadie, getting up on a Saturday looking forward to that night's away game on tv - that's where I'll put my energy. Well, all those things and this board as well.
