Mark Packer is blistering the B1G and SEC…

Honestly, it's valid.

Soccer famously uses past results from different leagues/countries to decide how many teams are entered into the next year's competition.

And it's tricky with the roster turnover, but if a league continuously loses in the tourney and you have 2 teams basically tied on the bubble to get in between ACC and B1G...at this point, ACC should get the nod, imo.

...and if the ACC starts to eat it in the tourney, that should factor in the other way around

31 bids the last two years 0 Final Fours.

ACC 10 Bids, 3 FFs

He’s been on this for weeks now.
It's the same principle JB referenced when he got criticism for 9 consecutive lackluster/mediocre seasons. "It's the tournament that matters," he said, knowing that we went to 1 F4 (2016) and 2 S16s (2018, 2021) in that timeframe. I just hate being on the bubble or out every year. It's tiresome. I would rather spend Selection Sunday knowing we are a lock for the tourney rather than having to white knuckle or rosary bead it. To be solidly in the NCAA field every year should not be too much to ask from SYR basketball.

Out of conference games are important in determining how many bids conferences get, that's just the way it is.

What they could do is have many of these non-conference games in late February or early March, that's the only fair way of handling things.

BTW, the Big10 has 17 bids the last 2 years not 31 --- it's still terrible.

Relegate them.

It certainly doesn't help how much the BIG has really made it a point to make a splash in the conference vs conference challenges. Either get rid of them or work them into the middle of the conference season. That's hardly the totality of the issue but it's one of several things that probably need to be modified

You know what’s really mind blowing? Last Big 10 National Championship was Michigan St. in 2000. If UCONN wins this year, it will be their 5th since 1999 with three different coaches.

SDSU winning would be hilarious to me for so many reasons. Fact it would be the first West Coast school to win since 1997 and not be Gonzaga or a Pac 12 school is just so funny. I really hope they pull it out.

Its no wonder its drilled into our heads that the SEC and Big 10 are the premiere leagues. They spend all the money on media/tv.

The Big 10 is full of bad, boring, soft basketball

The SEC is full of garbage coaches

And unfortunately because they receive more bids they potentially receive more cash payouts. Here it is for this year.

and 2000 only happened because JB refused to switch out of the zone after Msu solved it.

What ACC team deserved to get in that didnt? Clemson this year is the only one you could argue. Is C-USA and Mountain West better conferences now because they have teams in final 4? Its a do or die tournament. Michigan St winning one more game than Indiana in the tournament didnt make them a better team this year. Regardless what JB said about best years ever...blah blah blah

These OOC games used to be spread out in the season. Difficult to accurately assess teams being re-formed each year with the transfer portal by completing OOC games so early in the season. This year our last OOC game was Dec 10th almost 3 months before the end of the ACC season.

Agreed.

Packer's criticism of the B1G is totally valid but the ACC undeniably had a down year. The league only received five bids and no one did anything in the NCAAT other than the U. There was a lot of mediocrity in the conference and one team making the F4 doesn't change that.

Btw C-USA is a combined 15-1 in the three (NCAAT, NIT and CBI) postseason tournaments.
