Mark Packer is blistering the B1G and SEC…

Football too. Since the BCS started the B1G has TWO football titles. That is over 25 seasons. Even worse they have ONE in the last 20 and ZERO in the last 8.

Before the BCS they last won an outright title (both polls) in 1968. That is 54 years and TWO outright titles (Michigan split in 1997). Take away Ohio State and the B1G has ONE split title in the last 56 seasons. In fairness they have added teams with titles to the league (USC, Nebraska, Penn State).

Edit

So in both FB and BBall the 16 schools that will be in the B1G have ONE title combined in the last 18 years. Even the 6 schools they added haven't won a thing over that span. Maryland won in BBall in 2002 and USC won in FB in 2004.
Why are they such a $ behemoth if besides tOSU their teams all suck?

They have had teams reach the finals. Since 03:
Illini 05
Ohio st 07
Mich st 09
Wisc 15
Mich 13 and 18

Wisc easily could have won, the refs and grayson allen took over that game as a frosh
fixed it.

You know what’s really mind blowing? Last Big 10 National Championship was Michigan St. in 2000. If UCONN wins this year, it will be their 5th since 1999 with three different coaches.

Because they're behemoth schools that non-alums in the state identify with because they "symbolize" the state and they've been playing seemingly forever.
Ohio State - 58,725 students
Michigan - 51,225
Minnesota - 54, 955
Nebraska - 45,560
Indiana - 48,952
Illinois - 56,644
Purdue - 41,573
Penn State - 46,800
Maryland - 40,709
Rutgers - 50,804
Wisconsin 49,587
Michigan State - 50,344
Iowa - 30,015

As a comparison -
Clemson - 28,466
Florida State - 45,130
Virginia Tech - 29,760
NC State - 34,015
the other ACC schools are smaller than Clemson.

Perhaps preseason OC games should mean more for non-P6 leagues. Most preseason games for P5/6 conferences are made for TV anyways even the preseason tournaments. The NCAA tells the lower leagues they need to play tougher teams, mostly OC, to showcase their strength. Those leagues point out how the P5/6 teams only want to schedule those games at home which isn't fair. The NCAA should push the big conferences to play the smaller ones and play half on the others home court.

Here's a little more.
And some interesting stats...such as the fact FAU spends about 10% as much as Kentucky on men's basketball.

After reading that, I now firmly believe that Mark Story knows next-to-nothing about college basketball.
