I have listened to Matt Park for years and I have never heard him say anything that would potentially rub JB the wrong way. It's like he is afraid to be in his doghouse! I understand he works for SU but I'm always waiting for him to have a take of his own and not just the comments with his orange/JB glasses on. I'm a big Yankees fan also and Michael K is the voice of the team but speaks his mind and I can respect that. Park is very arrogant and poo poos to many fans and their opinions.

Kay has ESPN radio money if he ever pissed off the Yankees to the point he got fired by YES

Each of those other programs will reload and be back next year. We’ve been on a downward trajectory, or stagnant, quickly nearing 10 years
maybe but we’re bringing in a guy Williams and returning enough players that they’re not gonna have an advantage over us with Williams in the mix!

Benny’s not going to fix all the issues

If Bourama is healthy and Buddy didn't miss the Rutgers game we have 3 losses (Road Pittsburgh (maybe) Road Top 10 Virginia, and yesterday Road Clemson.

Have some perspective people. Benny coming in next year is a huge impact. We also need to attack the transfer market for a impact big man.

We will be better next season.
You need to remove your orange color glass to have a clear view of ALL the issues with the basketball program. Starting with JAB.

That's the thing about the program - EFFORT should be there, game in and game out. Unfortunately, it's not just the case with us.
In my opinion guys are playing too many minutes... College kids don't get tired but their legs and mental sharpness does...

Never said he was but if Richmond and Quincy are there it’s a pretty good start
Definitely but another year passes and the center issue is not resolved. Just not getting my hopes up when glaring issues continue to not be addressed

As part of the back & forth with Matt, I did appreciate him responding. I just don't agree with him. At all. A program that is going to miss the tourny again this year (and assuming they'd miss last year), they will have had 3 appearances after the 2014 season. So, they've missed four years and made it 3. The seeds in those 3 years? 8, 10, 11. The 11 seed they made it as the last team in. Matt saying that the bar was set too high because I grew up watching Sherm/DC/Seikaly/Billy etc was just odd. I'm not expecting Final 4 every year, but competing just to get on the bubble each year is just wildly unacceptable.

SUs fan base is old. Old people have had habits changed by Covid. Vaccine or no Vaccine social gatherings will be different. Most likely less frequent and suppressed for a very long time. Especially amongst people over 50.
Combine this with a poor product and attendance might plummet.

It's not something I look forward to seeing, but I kind of suspect this to happen, to really low numbers, like 10-15,000 attendance.

Not a good year for the blue bloods. Duke, Kansas and Kentucky are all down. Carolina is below par too. Even an above average SU team could have finished in the top 3 of the ACC this year. VT is number three and they aren’t very good. Almost losing to Miami and getting pummeled by SU says all you need to know about this conference. Watching St. John’s, SH, and UConn for the past couple of days, they would all be in contention in the ACC. The ACC is really bad.

College basketball is really bad. I seldom used to watch NBA unless it was the playoffs. But I find myself enjoying NBA a lot more than college these days. I can't watch a college game if it's not SU. Even teams like Duke, UNC, Kentucky - I don't know any of these kids at all. It's like rooting for laundry.

The talent is mediocre now and it honestly amazes me how bad college coaching is.
The rules restricting the amount of time players can be with coaches hurts development but then you remember they are college kids who have to go to class and get an education.

The European model of basketball academies make so much sense.
Except they wouldn’t attract fanbases and the whole point about college basketball would be exposed.

It’s why the NCAA model is becoming exposed.

I couldn’t agree more. I’m 43, one thing I won’t be doing for the next 2-3 years is attending any indoor sporting event.
I mean, i appreciate and understand the caution. I’m around the same age and I’m concerned. But things are going to get a lot better in the next year, barring any serious curveballs thrown at us from the virus variants. The vaccine truly are miraculous, especially with how fast they were developed and how effective they are. In trials, the Moderna and Pfizer were basically 100 percent effective in preventing severe disease. And they suspect they’ll be nearly as effective against the variants. We’ll see about further mutations. Hopefully we get the spread under control and prevent more dangerous mutations of the virus. With vaccines, the virus’s spread should slow considerably by mid to late 2021. I think live events could return in 2022. Masks may be required at first, out of an abundance of caution, until enough of the public is vaccinated.

This doesn’t jive with the opinions of the old people I know. Maybe my old people are special. If you’re vaccinated, there’s no reason to give Covid a 2nd thought
You better be giving it a second thought after you’re vaccinated. Because experts suspect that you’ll still be able to get and transmit the virus after vaccination. They hope the vaccine will prevent transmission by 50-70 percent but that’s still partially transmissible. They just don’t know. You’ll need to continue wearing masks and social distancing (in public settings) until 80-90 percent of the public is vaccinated.

This is one of the saddest and flat out most incorrect views I’ve ever seen on this board!

Congratulations.
Do you realize we were closer to losing to a middle of the road buffalo and northeastern teams than your stupid scenario! You should go on pause from this form this is a horrible take

I gave up seats long ago. The fan experience, from ushers to food to faculties, is sub-par, to say the least. The product was no longer worth my effort, my time, or my money.
Now, with the TV and streaming, there are times that games are unavailable to me on TV, unless I want to jump through lots of hoops (no pun intended) trial memberships, etc. It makes it difficult to follow sometimes, so I watch something else.
Then there is the aforementioned product. While CBB as a whole is down, the only difference between SU basketball the last 10 years or so and the A-10, MAC, etc. is the name on the jersey and the name on the bench.
(Most of the above applies to the FB program as well.)
Dior Johnson gave me hope for a revival, but that ended, and our coach’s “get off my lawn”, “I dumped him he didn’t dump me” attitude toward the whole thing was disconcerting, at best.
I admire you folks whose love of the program and heart on the sleeve fandom hasn’t waned. I hope your faith and loyalty are rewarded.
The last 10 years? You have a bad memory. We went to the Elite Eight in 2012 and were one of the four best teams in the country, Final Fours in 2013 and 2016, Sweet 16s in 2010 and 2018. We were also a consistent top 25 team from 2009-2014. And we were the number 1 team in the country in 2010, 2012 and 2014.

Wont anybody think of the #narrative?

I also wish they fixed the reffing and actually allowed movement and enforced the rules. They claimed to be doing it a few years ago but it's so inconsistent and they still allow too much garbage. The NBA lets the quality of its athletes shine -- i'd rather watch that and quality scoring.

College refs do and have not figured out how to properly call the block/charge.
Bad and lazy defense gets rewarded.
College hoops allows way too much physicality which restricts talent.
The sport seems to want to be slow and defensive oriented so upsets can happen.
When the talent really isn’t that much different.
Gonzaga is probably the best team this year since 2012 Kentucky.

College hoops should work with the NBA change their rules to adapt to NBA rules and embrace them if they want the top kids playing.

We’d be talking about a situation in which almost the entire at-risk population is vaccinated and the transmission rate is cut in half. The reason the virus is so dangerous is the transmission rate, not necessarily the death rate. With that cut in half, this pandemic would be effectively over.

To me the saddest part of today was Matt Park on Twitter acting like Boeheim's press secretary. The fact he thought that was necessary really shows where we are or where people on the ground think our fan base is. I'm a pretty positive person and do like some of our young players but I honestly watch every game but don't look forward to them like I used to and don't even get that upset after a loss.
You’ve developed apathy, like the majority of our fan base, including me...an avid fan from class of 1963.
