Could easily be the third or fourth tackle and go in the teens. Class is fairly top heavy this year, but I think they are coming off the board quick. Premium position where you can get decent production early on at a heck of a discount.
Really excited for Matt. Has always struck me as a great kid who was super hard working and just wide-eyed soaking up every detail he could digest. Amazing story to boot, camp prospect pretty much unheard of until he shows up at Coyne on a random June afternoon. Coaches knew right away he was different. What a blessing.
No, totally agree with this. He's definitely not in that top tier of the current class but definitely at the top of the 2nd tier of tackle prospects in this class. Realistically this puts him somewhere near the end of round 1 into the mid to late 2nd. I was just trying to say it's very possible there could be a lot of tackles taken early which would push him up into a higher than expected pick.I think this is best case scenario. I’ve been following OL and tackle articles for months now b/c of my Bears. I’d love for them to grab Bergeron but I doubt they do unless they drop down further in the draft. But I almost never hear Bergeron mentioned in the top 4-5 tackles expected to be drafted. That doesn’t mean he won’t and I’ll think he’ll still get drafted high. Just not sure it’ll be in the teens but could easily be just past that and that would be awesome too.

Either way the kid is about to make some life changing money and represent my team in the league. Exciting times.
And to think he sat behind Ryan Alexander for 4 games.Honestly who would have thought when Bergeron stepped on campus a few years ago that he was going to be our premier draft pick in this year draft??
Have to give a ton of props to this kid and he is ALL Syracuse.
His success in the league is vital to Syracuse
Albeit a true frosh! But I get your point lol it’s wild to think about… very happy for berg, he’s going to make a lot of money in a few daysAnd to think he sat behind Ryan Alexander for 4 games.
It'll be cool for Ryan Alexander to brag about to his family and friends when he's watching Matt play in the NFL.And to think he sat behind Ryan Alexander for 4 games.
Looks like it was 7 games that Alexander started ahead of him as Cuse.com has him staring only 5 games in 2019 and his first start against Florida State in game number 8.Albeit a true frosh! Didn't realize it was that many. Babers said in a presser at some point last year that he was not pleased with "the OL coach at the time" (Cavanaugh) for not just starting the season with Berg at RT.Looks like it was 7 games that Alexander started ahead of him as Cuse.com has him staring only 5 games in 2019 and his first start against Florida State in game number 8.

I would think him starting at tackle against NC State and Pitt the two games before he was introduced to the starting line up would maybe have made a difference. We lost those two 10-16 and 20-27. But some what understandably the staff was unsure about starting a true freshman at Tackle who came from Canada and probably didn't have all that much experience.
Yeah I remember that comment. I believe it was something like after seeing his production they questioned the staffs decision not to start him earlier.Didn't realize it was that many. Agree. I was listening to the podcast with Adam Terry that suggested he would go late 2nd early third and thought that was way to low. Hope he goes tonight. Been a long time since we had a first rounderHappy for him. He could go tonight depending on when the run of OT’s start to come off the board. I don’t think he makes it past 40 worst case scenario.
It’s nice to see multiple guys in the draft conversation.
Have always loved the NFL Draft, loved the old Saturday/Sunday format much better but TV always wins.
Good luck boys!
Would love for the New York Football Giants to take Bergeron tonight!
I’m still hoping my Bears snag him. They won’t at the 9th pick but I also think they’re actively trying to trade down again. Then he’d fall right in the perfect spot if they pick later in the 1st or early in the 2nd.
