Matthew Bergeron: Falcons

Do you draft early in the second round for depth?

Do you know what the contracts are for all the current OL on their roster? He doesn’t need to start day 1. He plays a year in heavy rotation, they figure out where they want him on the line and they don’t re-sign a veteran. Pretty standard stuff. Even in the 2nd round. He’s going to play a lot of downs. So who the hell cares. Way to turn a positive into a fake negative.

Can't believe how calm he was on the phone. Like another day at the office.
Dude just made millions in a snap of a finger and is just still being a smooth operator lol, no shot I would be!

I didn't turn it into a negative. I was wondering if they may trade one of their current guys because they think so highly of him, and a rookie contract is killer value for a starter. How is that negative?

Sorry. I took your multiple posts as implying it wasn’t a good draft spot for him because there’s already an OL full of starters there. My bad if you weren’t being negative.

Jake drops from 12.4 percent of cap next year but still, big number for an LT on the wrong side of 30. Lindstrom signed a monster deal. They're going to want cheap options at tackle/g to counter balance those big numbers.

Writing is apparently already on wall for mayfield as a potential injury/bust too. so getting younger there is helpful.

Leave it to the Cowboys to screw it up. So close to being a first round pick.

Bergeron almost went to the Cowboys

Interesting that their personnel guy referred to him as “the Guard.”

I guess some teams truly saw him as a Guard first (and possibly not an NFL tackle at all).

I still believe he ends up playing Tackle in his career and outplays his draft position.
