Which route did u take? i went through Arizona 40 to 80 to 70.
We first went in 1993 and some bridges crossing the Mississippi were closed. We usually go 81 south to 40 east to 10. In 1993 we went 81 thru Alabama to 10 East

It’s fun if you don’t mind long hauls. Drove from NYC to home (at the time) in SF east bay in a rental car, NYC to Cuse then out 90/80 all the way. Also did ATL to SF east bay when I moved there, driving a rented small truck with all my earthly possessions and towing my car behind on a trailer, up 75 to Chattanooga then on to 40 and out that way, eventually to CA 58 and thru Tehachapi and up up over that pass into the valley and Bakersfield. Not the most fun part of that trip. But a good drive overall.
Honestly I’m more concerned right now if Chris Carlson got his luggage.

It was the arbitrariness of eligibility for the post high school grad year. If the rule was youhave 5 years from HS graduation to compete. That would have been fine.
Cannonball started at the Lock Stock and Barrel in the Good wives Shopping Center in Darien CT. Friends used to see it off. Another excuse to get blasted.
