So Carmelo not only was aware but signed off? Good job Etan.![]()
Why miss an opportunity to try to disparage the lally family once again. So Carmelo not only was aware but signed off? Good job Etan.![]()
And Paulie added that Manley Field House is part of the Lally Athletics Complex, which it officially is not.
I know he was but still didn’t need to happen that way. Could have left that area alone imoSteve Infanti just mentioned this on Orange Nation. Categorically stated that Melo was absolutely aware and in favor of the move. Gave this as an example of a random social media post that has no basis in fact and grows legs. (My words).
But but but, broccoli hair kid said he didn’t know!!yea infanti said on his show that it's a non issue because melo knew and was in favor of it.

With all due respect this has already been known as you stated. people are attempting to make something out of nothing and it is honestly Ill will and drama. The former player has serious issues, borderline dangerous if you do not agree with his delusions. This is from a Syracuse homer for sure, who unequivocally has objectivity however. I very much appreciate all you do for the goodness of CuseHe’s doing some other things at the moment to add some sizzle to the steak
From someone who is and has been so generous because of big picture student athlete initiatives. They are also aware of the current climate we live in as it relates to literally what is considered a true attack on student athletes, on all levels, except those project at a high Division 1 level to specific institutions seemingly now. , The entire system is what supported all arms of major college athletics and it certainly and exclusively did not consist of athletes who went on to play professional sports. the percentage is 2% for Division One athletes as it relates to college football and less than that certainly as it relates to college basketball.Etan needs to be muzzled. My man is losing it.
Actually its quite funny how some of the people who have recently been distanced from the program are throwing fire on this absolute nothing burger.
Sure makes you go hmmmm.
Yeah .. it’s a lot. Build a statue or something . A huge plaque. Don’t stick a name on something that has a name already from a more important donorThere’s plenty of those, but they aren’t giving 25 million
22M in additional funds says he isn’t more important. I don’t agree with that but that’s how the world worksYeah .. it’s a lot. Build a statue or something . A huge plaque. Don’t stick a name on something that has a name already from a more important donor
The dollar amount doesn’t supersede the name recognition and legacy. There is no dollar amount that can ever supplant that22M in additional funds says he isn’t more important. I don’t agree with that but that’s how the world works
Let’s be real. The dollar amount doesn’t supersede the name recognition and legacy. There is no dollar amount that can ever supplant that
More than just "a sign", it's many signs and I heard that when you turn on a light switch, instead of the typical click sound, it says "Lally". And, if you yell down the hallway, instead of it echoing what you said, it echos "LALLY".Let’s be real.
How many basketball players/recruits/etc. are saying “I’m heading over to the Melo center at the Lally Complex for practice”
The reality here is it’s still the Melo Center, always has been. A guy gave us $25M (I’ve heard he’s also given more recently too but don’t know that as fact) and they named the complex after him and put up a sign in the doorway.
Didn't this just happen to the Dome and everyone seemed totally cool with it?Yeah .. it’s a lot. Build a statue or something . A huge plaque. Don’t stick a name on something that has a name already from a more important donor
Seemed pretty clear that Steve had spoken directly to Melo. He’s a journalist. And Paulie added that Manley Field House is part of the Lally Athletics Complex, which it officially is not.
What are you talking about?? Manley is essentially the center of the whole complex.
I get it, this all can be hard to tell if you have never gotten to go inside the athletics complex. But literally this is ALL o
The lally donation deal to athletics was announced in 2019 and construction began in 2021/2022 maybe? The University was/is actively selling naming rights for at least 30 areas inside and outside and they just announced a multi million dollar family naming of something in football (but I can’t recall the name) in the fall. At this phase of the complex according to athletics, is when they are naming all the entrances of the complex. SU also sold (obviously) the naming rights for Carrier Dome to JMA wireless which helped secure the funding for the dome construction/upgrades and the addition of the Miron Victory Court was made possible by funding from Miron family. As the landscape of college athletics is changing and much like every other college campus and pro athletic teams naming rights are an important way to raise money. When Melo donated to the Melo center that was the launch for the rest of the funding (similar to how the Lallys launched the athletics complex restructuring). I believe the funding for Melo was largely subsidized by the University but I’m not entirely sure as that was almost 20 years ago? the Lally Complex is donor funded. I believe there is talk about upgrading other areas of athletics (which will offer naming rights for whom ever bids on it). Worth nothing Cliff Ensley (Ensley Center) funded the construction of the building that has his name. It’s really nice and it’s located behind the Lally Complex I believe it was built in 2014? The Lallys also donated 7 figures in 2016? 2017? To resurface the practice fields for football. The Barnes Center is a huge wellness facility that was funded by Steve Barnes but that’s located on campus. The University has a list of naming rights that people can review. Naming rights are rarely forever (as the University wants to flip those to drive more donations in the future) that means that the JMA wireless will probably be named something else in 10 years That’s how it works folks. It's funny, I parked at Manley (or Lally...or next to the Melo Center at Lally) on Saturday, noticed the Lally sign on the Melo building and thought "Interesting, I have never noticed that before". Got home, and then saw it on social media.
I sort of chalked it up to naming fields and courts at buildings. The Jim Boeheim Court at the JMA Wireless Dome. It literally happens all the time.
Melo's building is literally a building at a larger athletic complex. Assuming SU had good communication with the donor (in this case a high profile athlete), there really is nothing to see here. Just Etan trying to stir up drama. He's starting to fall into the "he's the worst" category.
