I disagree with that. The leagues are just like NFL idea of conferences.
From an old SI article:
"...In 2016, Baseball Savant calculated that the Mariners log roughly twice as many air miles as the Cubs (47,704 to 24,271), and all five AL West teams ranking among the top seven in mileage traveled. A study published in 2017, covering 20 years of data (1992–2011), showed that teams crossing two or three time zones without having the proper time to adjust their sleep schedules performed worse than average, and that teams traveling east were at a greater disadvantage, with the Washington Post's Ben Guarino concluding that upon returning home, 'The effects are sufficiently large to erase the home field advantage.'"
I think they should add a team to Las Vegas and Montreal.
I think Portland gets a team.

Seattle just doesn't have anybody really close them. The Angels/A's do.
That is the difference in air miles.
Plus with chartered planes and first class seating on those planes I am not feeling bad for their extra travel. They play 18 road games in Texas those are the extra miles for the most part.
Las Vegas with football/hockey is the market out West IMO.

If I were king:

144-154 type game schedule
Kill Sunday night baseball
Give teams a day off with cross country travel
No day games after night games of travel
At best a very minimal 6-9 game interleague. Yanks-Mets, Dodgers-Angels type of thing.
NL teams not in the same division should probably play each other more than 6x but not sure how that math works.

Part of my loathing the DH is that it take a sport that asks players to hit, run, catch and throw and just removes the part that leaves guys standing in the beating sun every day while a DL can cool his heels in the clubhouse and go to the cages under the stadium and hit. It also really kills strategy later in games outside the lefty - lefty / righty - righty stuff.

SNB is totally useless. It kills travel for those teams badly and the support is regional. Outside of Red Sox-Yankees, Cardinals-Cubs/Dodgers-Giants none of these games have national juice.

They should just scrap it or move it to Friday night. It wouldn't be stand alone but Friday night games have the most buzz.

I have Nats seaons. Part of the reason I never draft Sunday tix is when that game get flexed for TV. The last thing too many people want to do on a Sunday night is schlep to a ballgame.

It sucks for the teams to play it, then travel through the night for a Monday game. Like you pointed out that guys aren't on the juice like they were teams need to build in recovery times for players.

I'd rather have Friday also. I enjoyed it when ESPN had Friday night doubleheaders and you didn't have to worry about work in the morning.

The DH is an abhorrent Johnny come lately experimental rule gone wrong. Get rid of it and all those beer league clubbers in the AL can either learn how to field or be a pinch hitting specialist.

Couldn't agree more. I get those who move to DH in the later years of their career, but those guys like Billy Butler here in KC who never learned how to play the field in the first place. Give me a freaking break!

Did anyone have nick markakis down as a 3000 hit guy?

He is in his first all star game, and will have over 2250 hits at the end of the year. Always been in good health. He is still only 34 years old.

Say he gets 150 hits in the next 2 years, he will down to about 400 to go before turning 37.

The DH sucks. Its like trotting out a softball lineup.

Then again interleague sucks too.
Let the NL move to Atlantis, the modern world has moved on.

As a Dodgers fan I love it solely because it’s a game where they’re on TV at 8 rather than 10:30.

Before tonight AL is 17-3 in the last 20 Allstar games.
It’s crazy how dominant the AL has been for a while.
Boston/New York money helps.
While only really LA Dodgers have spent like crazy every year in the NL.

It's all Atlee Hammaker's fault.

The first all-star game I remember (I was 7) was the 1983 all star game. At that point the NL had win 11 in a row. I remember it being a big deal on the broadcast. I was cheering hard for the NL since they had 4 starters from the Expos

The NL was down 2-1 in the 3rd, in game Atlee Hammaker, came in gave up 7 runs, including a grand slam to Fred Lynn.

Since Hammaker, the AL is 26-8 in the ASG.

I turned 7 in Nov 1983 and Fred Lynn is my first all star game memory also

Joey Votto catches that popup...

Was at the game last night. Taking a ferry 30 minutes after last pitch in an extra inning game, ugh...otherwise great fun the last 2 days.

Notice who's sticking up for the guys in the air conditioned room...
Despite being labeled and ‘AL’ guy, I was always for the ‘old’ rules.

No more.

That ship has sailed.

The NL game is worse and with interleague every day it’s just stupid.

2 leagues in the WORLD let pitchers hit, the National and...Little.

It’s over Johnny, you don’t have to hit anymore.

It is ridiculous that the championship of the sport is played by 2 different rules. It is just stupid.
Sox and Yankees have the best interleague records in MLB history. 222-156

It's not even fun anymore. I mean the first couple of years it was interesting but I don't care about it anymore. I would rather play teams from the AL. Make it 6 games a year for regional rivalries.

Imagine alternating by quarters in the SuperBowl as to whether you can punt/kick or not...

I expect to see a lot of that when the Birds line up against the NYG this season. You guys punt and we kick. ;)

18 guys are on the field playing in the elements. Meanwhile 2 guys can take BP in a climate controlled environment while the game is going on.

Senator Dianne Feinstein taking a break from Capitol Hill to break baseball trades. He corrected it in his next tweet but I can't stop laughing.

Maybe now would be a good time for all MLB players and their agents to take a look at their twitter accounts and do some clean up work if necessary? Hader and now Sean Newcomb and Trea Turner yesterday. Geez guys

There is some serious trolling being done now.

If I’m a young athlete, I’m taking down everything.
