MLB thread for non-Red Sox and Yankees fans

Maybe now would be a good time for all MLB players and their agents to take a look at their twitter accounts and do some clean up work if necessary? Hader and now Sean Newcomb and Trea Turner yesterday. Geez guys

I don't know why teams don't pay some intern to spend a day looking at everyone's account and telling the guys which tweets to delete.

The Trea Turner one was from Braves fans po'd that a Nationals fan unearthed the Newcomb tweets.

Waiting for the Prince that was promise. All hail Guerrero Jr

The DH is an abhorrent Johnny come lately experimental rule gone wrong. Get rid of it and all those beer league clubbers in the AL can either learn how to field or be a pinch hitting specialist.
yeah, it sure is great seeing an amateur go up and take three pathetic swings.

If I were king:

144-154 type game schedule
Kill Sunday night baseball
Give teams a day off with cross country travel
No day games after night games of travel
At best a very minimal 6-9 game interleague. Yanks-Mets, Dodgers-Angels type of thing.
NL teams not in the same division should probably play each other more than 6x but not sure how that math works.

Part of my loathing the DH is that it take a sport that asks players to hit, run, catch and throw and just removes the part that leaves guys standing in the beating sun every day while a DL can cool his heels in the clubhouse and go to the cages under the stadium and hit. It also really kills strategy later in games outside the lefty - lefty / righty - righty stuff.
and the pitcher hitting solves that? There is nothing more boring than watching the amateur hitter go up and take three pathetic swings and sit down. The American League just has a better game to watch.

18 guys are out there in the elements...and 2 guys can take swings in air conditioned batting cages simulating the pitchers out there. Seems fair...

Not everyone enjoys those 5 hour Yanks-Sox games on ESPN.

Once again, it's great to see an amateur go up, take three pathetic swings as opposed to seeing a professional go up. You know, in a major league game.

Looking forward to tonight where the Red Sox will sit a professional hitter so that the pitcher can hit. All because the Phillies owner was out fishing. That's right. The N.L. would have had the D.H. since the A.L. did but they couldn't reach the Phillies owner because he was fishing.

Guys who can throw and catch and play in the field, you know, baseball players.

Steriod era post from you.

Every league in the world uses the D.H. except one. But that league has it right? Do we make QB's punt the ball or do we bring a professional in on 4th down? It's called professional baseball and yet you have a complete amateur hit. I would never pay money to watch that crap. And once again, the only reason the N.L doesn't have the D.H. is because they couldn't reach the Phillies owner when they took the vote. Every league in the world. And the D.H. was around long before the roid era. And it's only a matter of time before the N.L. gets with the modern era

I said it before the no DH/DH is like if in the NBA the Western conference had the 3 point line and the Eastern conference didn’t have it. It would cause games on Eastern courts to be a completely different game.

DH should be universal.

Glad he went.

If you aren't wearing a baseball glove, you aren't playing baseball.

It is universal. In every league in the world, save one.

Do you think baseball should have a clock like football? See it's silly to compare sports.
It's silly to say it's silly to compare sports. We do it all the time. Same exact example. Football grew to understand that it was foolish to play the same player on both sides of the ball for an entire game. baseball has grown to know that is is foolish to ask an amateur to try and hit a major league pitcher. They can't do it and it bores the hell out of fans.

They are implementing a fashion of clock for baseball in the next couple of years. It is silly to compare sports, but you are wrong about this one. Or at least on the wrong side of the argument. I can't remember who said it, but they expect the NL to implement the DH within 5 years.

Eight of the top 12 teams in attendance are NL. They don't seem that bored.

Good luck with that, guys step out after every pitch to readjust their batting gloves (I'm waiting for a pitcher to hurt themselves with they suddenly pull up in their delivery). And it's a pace of play clock, not a game clock.

The N.L. is winning this year for the first time in about 17 years. Winning has more to do with attendance than anything else. There are races in the N.L.. In the A.L., they have great teams at the top. It really isn't that complicated.
