My Post Spring Depth Chart

I personally don’t like taking grad transfer unless they are better then everyone we got since I feel like we can develop our players better to take the role on and bringing a grad transfer just delays the problem a year. They still need game expeirence

Not a bad point, but on the other hand, giving a player an extra year to build himself up so that he's physically ready is helpfully not just physically, but mentally, too. I've seen teams in many sports where you have to rely on too many young guys, the performance isn't there, losses mount, losing becomes contagious and it's harder to install new habits and break the bad cycle. So, no, I don't want to play young guys before they're physically ready. That's how you win 4 games instead of 8 or 9 or 10.

Overall agree. Think Stritz earns the nickel start though.
Whether it’s scoop or trill both will play over Stritz. Now I think next year Stritz will start there but not yet in my opinion.

This is my guess at what the depth chart will look like when the season starts in September...

With the WRs moving all around, who the heck knows where a number of the youngsters will end up.

The linebackers are tough to call too; seems like there are people being moved around a lot and there is still some uncertainty with Shy.

But this is what I think for now.

Looking at the chart, we don't have a really strong junior class, especially on defense. We might take a step back in 2020. The sophomore class is very good though. When they are seniors, we have a chance to be really special.

I think Ruff is a 3 tech Harper a 1 tech but other than that I think ya killed it.

How things shape up at Linebacker is going to be very interesting. I think we have six guys vying for playing time.

  • L. Williams is a stud athlete and BIG. He made a big contribution on special teams, but lacks experience.

  • Armstrong has experience, but his best value may be as a third down pass coverage specialist.

  • We beat out Georgia for Juan Wallace -- he got his feet wet [primarily on ST] last year, but could factor in.
  • Tyrell Richards has played [although like Guthrie last year, primarily at DE]. Physical freak who now has spent all spring at LB.

  • Jones / Kaponga were highly rated and enrolled early. After seeing Cisco's early contributions, I wouldn't be surprised if either or both of these guys saw the field.

That's six without even factoring Shy in, or accounting for someone like Allison. Although there are huge question marks today, I have a feeling that once this group gets their sea legs that LB will shift into being viewed as a position of strength.
I agree about Armstrong and feel when shy gets back it should be a tyrell and shy starting of nickel with army coming in as third back on definite runs and Williams and Wallace get a good amount of playing time as back ups and giving the starters a breather. Playing lb all game long plus st is daunting in this league with the physicality we have to play against. We will be good here in the end. Downhill and aggressive will make this a tough team to play against.

Nice depth chart. What is also interesting is that with the high quality of recruits we have been getting, we are likely to see more pleasant surprises each year. Perhaps not as surprising as our two All-Americans, but pretty cool nonetheless.

Wonder who's next.

Fla St. is down. If we beat them in Tallahassee it sends a message. We seem to play Clemson close. If we beat them in the Dome that sends a message. I think he's alittle past half way to his goal. Winning will get him there. We were there in the late 80s and 90's so why can't we get there again?

I should have been more clear - I’ve always personally thought it was possible. I’m not sure some of our HC’s from the past thought it was. It’s awesome that Dino does.

I think that Adams is going to be a game changer. Based on the film i have seen on him both HS and at Oklahoma he will be our best RB in a very long time. He has it all. Vision, cuts on a dime, hands, tough and game speed.
He is a complete back.

I would say we have great depth at DE in 2019.
K Coleman
A Robinson
K Jonathon
B Berry
Z Morton
J Pickard
C Okechukwu (maybe DT)

Freshmen:
A Tuazama
I Goulbourne
C Dawson
S Linton

Maybe a lot of inexperience, but a lot of potential and a lot of bodies

For sure it is great talent and depth for 2019. For 2020 we will still have a lot of numbers but everyone other than Kingsley will be very green as we will lose 3 of our top 4. A few will probably still be undersized as well. I would include Jason Munoz on that list of freshman as well. Sounds like he is DE size now but will hopefully grow to be a DT eventually.

Fredrick - not Frederick. The kid is a multi-year starter.

I got that post too. Even more tiresome when "Frederick" absolutely is the standard spelling of "Frederick," but we are supposed to pay attention to every variation that any name may take
