This whole belief that the redshirt rules changed has to die.

It really does. OX & other mods have set the record straight on this too many times to count, in multiple threads since the offseason. Maybe it should be tacked for a while until ppl get it.

It doesn't even make sense. Like, if the rule changed, wouldn't we have seen everybody at this point? Because why not?

IMO, it's a direct result of reading a tweet or headline of an article & not the article itself. That's just the world we live in.

Yep, I definitely remember seeing him on the field vs CCSU and saying how I wished he had redshirted.

So does this mean his RS is gone? Maybe he got hurt? It's not like we'd ever hear about it?

if they change the rule the difference will be playing in 1-4 games to not blow a redshirt vs now is 1-3 games and you have to get hurt to not blow it..

Kid might only tip the scales at 200 but he can lay pipe. There was a clip of him from spring practice where he absolutely leveled K Hahn on a quick pop over the middle. The speed of the whole sequence was unreal. Normally I'm not impressed when guys do that to walk-ons but I honestly don't know how that kid is still alive.

His redshirt is gone. We needed athletes on specials. Babers kept talking about having to play walkons on specials last year for want of bodies.

Yeah exactly. I'd rather have him out there then a walkon. Fagan might be in line to start at an OLB spot next season so you might as well get his feet wet now.

At this level of play i have to disagree about redshirting unless the kid is an absolute star. Great teams are junior and senior heavy and most are redshirted. We havent gotten to the level of 4 or 5 guys that are so good we have to play them. We will be soon but not yet. When we are playing 3 or 4 freshmen and not 10 then i know we will be tough. Cant wait actually.

Redshirt is gone, rule hasn't changed. The redshirt rule change is just a proposal and has in no way been approved.
