Awful job by Oats and Bama . You know their motivation to sweep this under the rug but completely tone deaf and dumb. Zero discipline for providing a gun that was used in a murder. If Bama has any pride they suspend miller and oats but they won’t.

I had the same opinion a few hours ago, but every media outlet is on this now. Public pressure is going to be ginormous.

In Tuscaloosa? You missed my point completely. If this was big city culture, there’d be no doubt he’d have been charged already.

You clearly don’t know the percentage of murders/shootings that go unsolved in big cities.

Doesn't matter if Miller was there or not. His gun was used to KILL SOMEONE.

Edit: Looks like the gun was Miles', not Miller's. Miller still brought it though and should be in big trouble.
I mean what kind of pea brain does this guy have? Months away from probably being the number 3 pick in the draft and more guaranteed dollars than he could dream, no matter how bad an nba player he might end up being , and he willingly goes and gives a gun to a guy who he knows is going to use it.

If I’m an NBA front office, that level of judgement is disqualifying to even consider taking him in the top half of the first round. Too much risk. And if it goes bad there is no excuse where you could say “well, he never did THAT before”

Once you get to the latter part of round 1 there is a better risk / reward ratio and the pick becomes justifiable from a basketball (not human ) perspective.

But I’m fairly certain this guy has cost himself a shytte ton of dough already

I know we have lawyers here. How is it not a crime to deliver a gun to someone immediately upon request in a situation where the deliverer knows or should have known the weapon was going to be used, in the immediate period post delivery , to commit a crime?

It's not even a gun thing for me. This has all the makings of a town trying to protect a star athlete hence the DA saying she can't say why he's not being charged. If he was on the end of the bench like Miles, they'd be sharing a cell right now.

I hope that when he gets drafted, he doesn't spend his money on jewelry and a car. The family will definitely go after him in civil court. Better preemptively save.

I mean just wow. What an insane thing for oats to say and trying to protect him. This will pick up some major steam in next 24 hours. No question. Too many eyes on this now and there should be. Cross him Off every list

#2 Alabama at South Carolina at 9 pm on the deuce tonight. Interested to see what the narrative will be.

My understanding is proof of intent? Still that seems to be threading the needle here and the irresponsible response from Oats and the University screams of Baylor /NMSU redux.

Yep - It was the headline on The Athletic daily email I got this morning and hasn’t been hard to find on the other sports websites
