NBA 2018-2019

Lakers are going to have a hell of a time filling out their roster with 23 mil. Good luck with that.. Such a mess

I don’t actually think it’s that bad as long as they don’t use all of the cap on one player.

Eh...

Let's be real, the reason Bron was able to make this work before was because he was in the East.

The Spurs are going to be fighting for an 8th seed this coming year with two guys that can be all stars and an all defensive player in DJM coming back. That's the 8th seed in the West.

They are in a very compromised spot.

I think there's also an element here about being able to take nights off. Remember when LeBron took like a two week vacation one of those years with the Cavs? Good luck with that in the West, you just fell out of the playoffs.

If Murray and White are both healthy and play 70+ games each then I think the Spurs could be looking at a top 4 seed. They were the 7 last year with them playing 0 games together.

Kind of amazing that the Clippers are now the well-run organization and the Lakers are inept.

The Lakers have two stars in search of a supporting cast, while the Clippers have the supporting cast in search of two stars.

I would kill to see Kawhi and Jimmy Butler on the Clips.

And Davis has only played more than 70 games twice in 7 years.

Yep. He gets a lot of "nagging" injuries.

To be fair to him, I think he would have played more than 70 last year. But on the flip side, he basically made a team have to tank a season because of his actions. So...

Aldridge is what, like a fringe top 20ish player? DeRozan is worse than that. Lakers have two top 8 guys now and can realistically end up with a lineup of something like:

PG: Pat Beverley
SG: Danny Green
SF: Kyle Kuzma
PF: LeBron
C: Anthony Davis

And then use their exceptions/ring chasing minimum guys to fill out the bench (in addition to Wagner who I'm guessing will get playing time if he's still on the team this year).

I think they'll pretty easily be better than the Spurs barring injuries setting in.

To NBA draftniks is Tyler Herro more Devin Booker or Nik Stauskas?

Haberstroh thinks the Knicks could pass on Barrett for Garland as the Knicks don’t like Barrett’s shooting percentages.

If that actually happens it will make the reaction to drafting KP sound like a golf clap

the lakers should be a sitcom. since the two jerry's exited, the team has been run like wkrp in cincinatti

I personally like Herro's game a lot. I doubt he ends up being anywhere near as good as Booker but also doubt he's anywhere near as bad Stauskas. Seems like he's a better defender already than both of those guys already and will be a great shooter IMO. Seemed to really struggle around the rim though.

I don't really think Denver, Portland Or Houston were any better then the top 4 in the East last year. The East is still behind the West as the West is deeper, but take out GS, and the real contenders last year were about the same.

The only reason Lebron made it out of the East in 2018 was:
- Boston had injuries
- Philly was still to young (They were much better and deeper in 2019)
- Toronto had Demar Derozan (a net negative in the playoffs as their "star")

No chance in hell that the 2018 Cavaliers would have made it out of the East in 2019.

and everyone thinks he needs shooters first amd foremost, but his best teams have had dominant guards he could lean on (wade, irving). they can load up on shooters on the cheap, but that kind of guard will eat up however much space they are able to create.

I don't think the fact that those two were guards is really what was important so much as just having a secondary guy that could create their own shot. Davis can fill that role.

Yeah, I give it about 2 weeks before Anthony Davis starts complaining about playing center.

Maybe less.

Nobody in the media is reporting it yet, but there's been whispers that Brogdon likely won't be back for the Bucks :\. That's gonna be a tough one for me. It would be huge if he wants to return because he could delay signing an offer sheet until after we've taken advantage of his tiny cap hold, but if he wants out, he'll likely sign during the moratorium so that we're stuck choosing between signing him and losing all of our cap space or letting him walk to keep the cap space.

I really hope we don't lose him but we'll see.

I tend to think Danny Green goes where Kawhi goes.

If Kawhi stays in Toronto, then Danny Green would have to accept a one year deal. Not sure if he would be willing to do that, although I can see Toronto giving him a nice one year contract. ($12-$15M)

At the end of next year, essentially everybody on the team is off the books. They are not going to give some of that space to Green.
