NBA 2018-2019

Boston is getting Kemba. Question is how good is he actually now with talent. The second best player on the Hornets was Jeremy Lamb. He needs to show that he can be efficient and shoot a higher percentage while taking less shots with talent around him. I do think it’s a no brainer though for the Celtics as the downgrade from Kyrie to Kemba isn’t that drastic. It’s a downgrade but it’s an all star replacement.

Slight downgrade in talent and a likely huge boost to chemistry. His shooting %s this past year are a big step down from Kyrie but he's going to have a wayyyy easier time getting good looks in Boston than with the bums in Charlotte. He's shot 39% from 3 previously so he's certainly capable. Other than losing Kyrie possibly costing you a shot at AD, this may turn out to be an upgrade overall. Now somehow figure out how to nab Boogie or some other skilled big to replace big Al and you're back up there battling at the top of the east.

Use the room exception and or future picks to add some big men and Boston is dangerous again IMO

Celtics got a trade exception in the Baynes deal with Phoenix:
They are going to target Enes Kanter, Robin Lopez with that.

Not sure if they can fit Steven Adams.
One solid depth big and they are top 4 seed next year in the East.

Kanter is a hilarious addition, wherever he lands.

The trade exception remains on Boston's cap sheet, so I think they would need to renounce the trade exception in order to afford Kemba.

Basically, if you’re under the cap, trade exceptions are useless.

Those two are free agents anyways. I imagine they’d be targets with the room exception (4.7 million)

Could the Celtics and Hornets do a sign and trade which would give the Hornets a trade exception and maybe a pick and the Celtics save some cap space to make more moves?

Theoretically I think so. Might be more advantageous to just sign him and trade whatever you were going to send to Charlotte somewhere else for a big man though.

In a sign and trade, I believe Charlotte could only receive up to $16 million in contracts in return due to Base Year Compensation clause.

Talking about Malachi, who was the last Syracuse player to get a championship ring? Malachi will be getting one from the Raptors. (EDIT - He will be offered one, as a player who was not on the final roster he does not need to accept it)

I'm surprised he's being offered one. Played 26 games and traded mid season.

Creating more room, so they'll have 32mil enough to sign a max player...

Also, Davis is waiving his 4mil trade kicker.

Anyway, I think this is hilarious. Lakers will get a max free agent, and either that player or AD is going to feel marginalized. The rest of the roster will be scraps/corpses.

DW, you ok man?

News from a Cuse alum

13 million + per year? For a scrubby little guy who tries real hard? Hard pass.

He’ll likely be a “bad contract” within a year and a half.

Really fascinated to see what the Lakers do from here. I don't really think signing a max free agent is wise unless it's Kawhi, and I'll be completely shocked if it's Kawhi. I suppose it depends on who Lebron can convince to sign for minimum deals, but I think I'd rather even a remote amount of depth rather than adding Kyrie or Kemba to the mix.

Kyrie to LA after Brooklyn doesn’t want him alone.
Then Kyrie can go from being Robin to Batman to Alfred the Butler to Batman.

What the hell are the Wizards doing?

Yeah if this happens, AD's not seeing the ball.

If Kawhi goes to the Lakers, he goes in as the alpha.

LeBron's not in charge. Rich Paul's not in charge. Charles isn't even in charge.

It's Kawhi.

So that ain't happening.
