NBA 2018-2019

Mike Miller
James Jones
Kyle Korver
Carmelo
Maybe Nick Young (does he still play?)

Who else we getting to fill out the roster?

Can Kidd give us some spot minutes as a player/coach? Is that legal?

Did UCLA graduate any decent players last year that are still in the area and haven’t found a decent paying gig yet?

Remember, we’ve won titles starting Slava Medvedenko and Samaki Walker. And with Sasha as a 6th man.

This is how you know there’s not a deal in place (yet) with the Lakers. Delaying the announcement prevents them from filling out the rest of the roster.

Slava didn’t get any run on that title team. He got a little in ‘04 when Detroit beat us. But yeah, starting PF was a revolving door - AC Green in 00, Horace Grant in 01, and Samaki in 02. When the chips were down, Horry was usually in there though especially in 02. Samaki barely played in those playoffs.

As top heavy as we were in 01 and 02, we had role players like Fisher, Horry, and Fox that had been on the team for years by then.

Beverly gone now for the Lakers. Nuggs extending Murray this early seems unnecessary.

Hot take:

Russell is only 23 and is better player at that age than Kyrie was. Good deal for Golden State.

I think that is pretty hot tbh. Russell was pretty good this year, but it may have been due to making a ton of mid range jumpers and that could easily regress. Plus, the Warriors are kinda set at the guard spot. I wonder if he's traded next summer? Russell is really young though, it is possible most or all of this improvement was real(ish)

Think you were wrong on Russell’s salary Alsacs lol. Happens to the best of us
I get plenty wrong and will do so more in the future. That contract is stupid though.
Warriors new arena will justify the cost.

Warriors and Celtics are could do a sign and trade for Looney to Boston and Marcus Morris to Golden State

I understand warriors had to do something and move forward but I think it probably means this coming year is a bit of a lost year if Klay doesn’t come back before say March. Losing Iggy makes that defense a lot worse. They’ll probably be mediocre at best defensively but won’t have the offensive firepower to make up for it like in recent years. Steph and Russell will have to outscore people each night and that’s asking a lot of Steph night in and night out after 5 Finals runs. Portland makes it work though, granted with more depth than GS will have.

A starting 5 most of the year of Curry, Russell, McKinnie, Dray, Damien Jones is not getting you safely into the playoffs. Unless they can pull another move out of their hat to add another piece.

BTW what is worse what the Celtics did to Isiah Thomas or what the Warriors did to Iguadola?

IT was traded to a contender he had been with the team 2.5 years.
Iggy was traded for cap space. To a team that will waive him and isn’t close to contending. He won 3 titles for the team, was the heart of the team, he won a Finals MVP and was traded after snitching on the Warriors medical staff.

Not a good look for the Warriors, but Iggy will be bought out and sign with the Lakers.

It totally could be real. His stats for his age 23 season are better than Kyries were.bstill you’re right. Could be trade bait.

I don't see how the Warriors move is bad in any way. They more or less gave him a ticket to any city of his choosing. Not like they traded him to the Grizz with an expectation that he would suit up for them.

I'd put the chances of either McKinnie or D.Jones being in the starting lineup at precisely 0.0.

Really love the job the Griffin is doing with the Pels. Team is pretty deep at this point with competent NBA players.

Guards - Jrue, Reddick, Hart, N.Alexander-Walker
Wings - Lonzo, E.Moore, Ingram
Bigs - Zion, Favors, Okafor, J.Hayes

Apparently Nicolo Melli was a baller in Europe too. Don't know anything about him but people are pretty excited about him being a floor spacing 4.

Iggy snitched on the Warriors medical team and got traded so the Warriors could trade for the snitcher.

Here is also what Iguodala said about Steph and the team knifed him.

That's admittedly probably the worst case scenario but who do they start in place of those two? There aren't really any better options on their roster as is and they have no money.

I read that they could dump Livingston and with the 5 guys on the roster would have $18.2M until the hard cap to fill 9 roster spots or they keep McKinnie, Graham, Shabazz, NG and have $13.1M before the hard cap to fill 6 spots.

Maybe they figure something out as they've proven to be pretty smart but there aren't many obvious options as easy upgrades to fill out the starting 5.

Lol. That is exactly the twitterification of sports. They dealt a guy that will turn 36 mid-next season to help clear space for a 23 year old all-star. Anyone that doesn't make that move is or will be irrelevant. Coming from a Boston Belichick guy makes it even more hilarious.

I made the point funny on purpose.
I just think the fact is though Iggy took a discount 2 years ago and team isn’t winning anything with Russell next year. I just think if the Celtics get crap for dealing Isiah Thomas what the Warriors did to Iguadola was just as bad.
If that is going to be used against the Celtics this should be used against the Warriors. That is the point I am making.

The team obviously made a good trade for their roster. 36 for 23 year old obvious upgrade.

Has anyone blamed and negative recruited Coach K for not teaching Jabari Parker and Jahlil Okafor how to play NBA level defense in their one year on campus?

Just curious.

Jabari is a guy I’m wondering what kind of contract he gets at this point.

Also, I like Bobby Portis. The Knicks might be...doing ok here? They’ve needed to build through the draft and smart FA signings for 25 years. I doubt they’ll see it through correctly, but once KD got hurt...this might be the way to go?

The Knicks plan is to copy the Nets model from 3 years ago. When they sucked and built a roster full of decent hard working players to change the culture of the team.
Question is can it work with the roster they got and does Barrett develop like Russell did with Nets.
By next year the Knicks need to be a borderline playoff team and year 3 ready to make the playoffs like the Nets.

I’d be surprised if Barrett doesn’t become at least an all star level player. And his ceiling is higher than that IMO.

If they picked him in any other year, that fanbase would be ecstatic.
