NBA 2018-2019

Knicks just signed Elfrid Payton to go with Julius Randle, Bobby Portis, Taj Gibson, Wayne Ellington, and Reggie Bullock.

Enes Kanter to the Celtics.

Wes Matthews to Bucks. Several contenders were after his services. Gets to play near Marquette.

Iguadola deserves to have his number retired more than Durant

Disagree. Without KD, they’re a one time champ who beat LeBron and a bag of . KD made them a mini-dynasty and one of the better champs of all time.

In 2016 they lost in 7 games with Harrison Barnes giving them nothing and Draymond getting suspended for game 5.
Durant wasn’t why they won in 2017 and 2018.
Maybe he was why it was 5 games in 2017 and a sweep in 2018 but Iggy has more titles with Warriors and changed the culture.

Clippers getting Harkless and a future Miami first rounder to help facilitate the Butler trade.

The Knicks? Sigh. At least they are all one year deals with an option (Randle is 2 plus 1 I think) but they couldn't have rented out the cap space to get some first rounders.

They have so many 32 win players on their team. it's really something

He was finals MVP both times wasn’t he?

Maybe they would’ve won, maybe not. We’ll never know.

They probably “should’ve” won in 2016. But Cleveland probably would’ve won in 2015 with a healthy Kyrie and Love. So that evens out.

They need Barrett to be a franchise player superstar is what it boils down to, IMO.

Yeah they basically need him to be the player I think Zion will be. Everything else falls into place around that. Way way way easier said than done, of course. I'm not optimistic. Then again, I am a Knicks fan

Lol. I don’t blame you. But while there’s very few 100% can’t miss guys in the draft(like Zion)...I gotta think Barrett is pretty close.

Stud athlete, versatile, well rounded, good size for his position. Only real question is he wasn’t a great shooter as a freshman but he showed promise and the stroke looks like he could become a really good shooter.

Gotta hope he’s on that Bradley Beal plan...looked like a great shooter but the % wasn’t there in college. But he panned out just fine in the pros as a shooter.

the off-season is the time for these debates, so...

The Warriors are clearly to me just a regular dynasty. 5 finals in a row, 3 titles, one game 7 in the finals, another series they probably win without 2 serious injuries. I guess Durant coming in kinda breaks things up a little, but that's an all time run.

Insider from NBA Reddit is saying Kawhi to Lakers is done.

Again, it’s not Woj et al, so take it fwiw. But dude has had inside info.

He made me a believer when he said Horford was going to the Sixers almost immediately after Horford opted out.

Good point. They were the team for half a decade. Mini was minimizing it.

Knicks shouldn't have to rebuild that way but guys need a reason to sign with an organization. Jazz started with Gobert and Ingles. Got Mitchell in a draft day steal. Actually stole Gobert and Ingels as well. But now all of a sudden Utah is attracting real good players. It all adds up. Barrett should be that pied piper. And hopefully guys will want to play for Fizdale.

This guy has been nailing FA as well though.

Warriors got Looney back. Huge for them. I was wrong in thinking he was gone.

I'm still not exactly sure what they're doing, but I guess moving into the new arena complicates things a little? They've ended up dealing 2 first rounders away. And are they gonna sign Green?

They wanted something for Durant so they gave up a first round pick to get Russell.
Russell gives them enough scoring to get into the playoffs.
By dealing the two contracts they took from the Nets to the Wolves they were able to keep their MLE for Looney.

Iguadola it’s sad he was dealt because his loss is huge.

I think the Warriors could deal Russell next offseason and recoup some draft capital.

Green has to get paid now and I bet the Warriors will try and put some weight clauses like the NFL in his contract.

I think they beat Cleveland if not for Draymond's kick to the nads.
I think they beat Toronto if not for two fantastic injuries.
Pretty dynastic stuff.

Definitely seems like GS and Russell are a short term marriage of convenience. Looney coming back is big because their defense looked like it was going to be pretty bad and without the offense to make up for it. Have to think he took a discount because I’m shocked if nobody else would give him more than $5M/yr.

No idea what they do with Green. Both signing him to a max and letting him go are probably equally unappealing. He’s a pain in the a ss but he’s a dog who I think they rely on quite a bit emotionally in big moments.
