NBA 2018-2019

Amazing.

Not surprised he didn't opt to play in Lebron's shadow.

This outcome also demonstrates how FOS the sports media is, with all of the contradictory "scoops" about him landing elsewhere over the past few days.

I think this really speaks to Kawhi's camp in particular. They had this entire thing locked down. I think this is the biggest draft haul any team has ever gotten in a deal?

I feel particularly good about my "no chris broussard tweet" rule for this thread

None of those draft picks will be good ones.

The 2 Miami picks could be good. And if Leonard were to leave when his contract expires, a couple of the clipper picks could be decent.

Lakers totally overpaid KCP and McGee.
It’s insane how they their backup plans barring a trade are an incomplete roster.

Clippers used the picks they got from Philadelphia for Tobias Harris and for helping the Jimmy Butler sign and trade from Miami to give the Thunder 5 first round picks and Shai Alexander and Gallinari.

They have no assets to trade.

Eh. Compared to other trades, they overpaid for George. They’ve got a heck of a 4 year window right now though. None of those draft picks will be good ones.

Think it's way too early to have any idea about that. We have no idea who is gonna be good in 2024 and 2026. Looooong way off.

Those picks will have value. 2 of them are post this current Leonard contract and the pick swaps are in essence first picks as well.

Clippers did the Nets-Celtics trade but for an actual in prime superstar and not washed up big names.

Ariza is their only trade chip but they need him to be their 3rd Star now.

The Pelicans are big winners now. The Lakers window lines up with the Clippers window and the Clippers roster right now is better.

Clippers just made one of the worst trades ever. Of course I have never been a huge PG 13 fan. We will see how he does with Kawhi. The west is just sick. I'm still feeling pretty good about the Jazz but lots of teams have improved.
Sounds like without George there was no Kawhi so I'm with the analysis that says two guys got traded

Caesars posted a unique proposition on whether a team from California will win the 2019-20 NBA championship. That includes the Lakers, Clippers, Warriors, and Kings (Yes +175). The other 26 teams represent the "No" (-210).

It’s now down to Yes +115, No -250

Danny Green for $15 million a year.

Yikes.

We still need two point guards.
Rondo isn’t leaving the Lakers.
Your GM though is going to be shopping in the discount aisle though now because of what is left. They went all-in for Kawhi.

Presti did really well.
Alexander was a lottery pick who showed flashes.
They can try and flip Gallinari at the deadline next year on an expiring contract as a rental.
5 first round picks is unprecedented as teams can only trade 4 of their own max in a deal and he got 2 Heat first round picks and 2 first swaps.

Clippers unless Balmer is paying under the table will need to get lucky in 3-4 years.

Wow Presti is Lakers Public Enemy #1.
He pursued deals with Toronto and Clippers because he feared a Lakers dynasty.

Toronto wouldn’t trade Pascal Siakim for a package of both Westbrook and George.

The Clippers better get FAs post Kawhi.
They don’t have to do too much with the roster. I’m sure they tried to deal Shamet instead of SGA, but they did re-sign Beverley, so they still have a starting PG (unlike the Leakers, LOL).

I'm not going to be surprised if in all of this Westbrook eventually finds his way to the Knicks.

So... hang on.

Did Jimmy Butler and Miami screwing up the salary dump with Dallas make all this possible?

Will be interesting to see what happens with Westbrook. Seems other stars don’t want to play with him. Shocking, lol.

Our guy Jerami Grant should see even more minutes and shots. Hope he can come close to maintaining his efficiency with the likely expanded role.
The Clippers didn’t have room for all those draft picks. Giving up SGA is what hurts. Worth it, though.
