They might have to do it to satisfy lebron. The lakers would be dumb to do that.

But they have a window lebron has a lot of wear and tear on him. At some point he's going to slow down a bit. The Lakers are not a championship level team.Hes locked in for 3 years. They're not held hostage like the Cavs were.
Not sure what the big deal is. LeBron doesn't tolerate anybody young, so the picks are meaningless and he's not going to want to play alongside Kuzma/Ingy/Hart, and if the Lakers are good the swap rights aren't even going to matter.

No guarantee they will get Leonard in fa. What if he gets traded and likes where he goes. When you bring in lebron you have to go all in you can't just waste a year. The 1 year deals and not paying Boogie long term is tipping their hand. Its all about getting through this year and to next years crazy FA group.

Marcus Smart turned down a 4 year 40 million dollar extension last year.
Marcus Smart turned down a 4 year 40 million dollar extension last year.
His agent said that offer would come back to haunt the Celtics in RFA.
The 76ers the Celtics chief rivals had the cap space to make Smart an offer and stick it to the Celtics they didn’t.
The guy hasn’t had a serious offer and he is butthurt the team that offered him 40 million last year isn’t bending over to pay him more?
I mean look around Marcus the market dictates what you get. He has a 6 million QO. Sign that and become a UFA next summer and hope to get your money then. Don’t complain your hurt when you were offered an extension last year and your agent said it wasn’t enough and nobody else wants you at a high enough price.
He is back next year unless they trade him.
