If that happens, we’ll get somebody else that wants to make a lot of money being the guy to turn a good team into a championship contender.

This year isn’t a waste if the kids further develop while winning and having a playoff run. It’s a building block season to bigger and better things.

You’re not going to win it all in year one by throwing a new team together, especially with the Warriors looking unbeatable.

That’s a huge asking price. Surprised they didn’t ask for the Laker Girls too. They can ask, but they have zero leverage.

Marcus Smart turned down a 4 year 40 million dollar extension last year.
His agent said that offer would come back to haunt the Celtics in RFA.
The 76ers the Celtics chief rivals had the cap space to make Smart an offer and stick it to the Celtics they didn’t.
The guy hasn’t had a serious offer and he is butthurt the team that offered him 40 million last year isn’t bending over to pay him more?

I mean look around Marcus the market dictates what you get. He has a 6 million QO. Sign that and become a UFA next summer and hope to get your money then. Don’t complain your hurt when you were offered an extension last year and your agent said it wasn’t enough and nobody else wants you at a high enough price.

Nobody outside of Chicago or Atlanta could offer him a max contract and the Celtics then decide if 4-84 is too much.
Those teams aren’t blowing their cap space on Smart.
Smart wants to get overpaid. Celtics realized his market and offered him a solid deal last year.
His agent wanted an overpay and thought somebody would do it this offseason.
Next offseason I bet if he just signs his QO he is a guy the Lakers have to max out when they miss out on targets next year.
Smart isn’t a 18 million year player. That is rumored what he wants 4-72.
He is a 12-13 million a year guy.
Randle just signed 2 years 18 million.

Smart and his agent have to give a little or they will get 6 million next year and no security.
