If Boston wins, who covers LeBron?

I'm legit concerned Jaylen Brown will eventually hurt the hammy worse and end this season for himself.
Celtics should sit Brown for games 3 and 4 and let him get healthy for game 5.
Boston has no chance at Philadelphia so just let Brown get healthy. Boston should just play to win all its home games.

Where do you come up with Boston having no chance at Philly?

I think Boston can take care of CLE the way things are now. Too much firepower. Cavs are still so bad defensively. Rozier is controlling these games and tempo. Getting wherever he wants and creating havoc. He impacts the game so much even if he doesn’t score.

Theres no guarding lebron, never has been.

What the celtics need to do is contain Love and green. Hill’s not scary when we have Rozier and Smart.

Celtics will have to continue locking down home court. We have the raptors lack of grit and the talent the pacers didnt have enough of.

But, there’s no beating Lebron when he’s on in the east. Last nights a prime example.

They lost 3 road games at Milwaukee first round.
I think the Celtics will win this in 7 winning all home games like first round.

I think they steal one in Philly.

If they do it will be a 5 game series.
Not sure Ben Simmons can play well at Boston.
McConnell was miles better than him yesterday.
A starting lineup of Kyrie Irving, Jaylen Brown, Gordon Hayward, Jayson Tatum, and Al Horford.

With a bench led by Terry Rozier, Marcus Morris, and Marcus Smart could challenge Golden State next year.

I thought losing Avery Bradley was huge but it has turned out Morris has been critical for this team and is a better value.

Smart won't get away with the "aggressive defense" he used on Simmons in Philly. That was a foul, even in Boston, but glad they let it go.

Would Ainge trade Kyrie for Kwahi and sign Rozier and Smart long term?

Can Kwahi and Heyward coexist on the team? You ask an interesting question.

I think so.
Leonard could guard SGs and Hayward SFs.
To beat Golden State you need lots of wing defending.
I could see Ainge flipping Kyrie for Leonard if Kwahi would sign long term.

Yeah, I'm wondering how sore Jaylen's hammy is today. I could see him not playing in G3, but going in G4 if it's not bad. Just trying to win all home games I'm sure is not what the Celtics are thinking.

Rozier has been fantastic as long as he doesn't get out of control which has happened a bit with his lofty confidence. But I'll take Rozier any day. Some talking heads questioned selecting Rozier in the 1st round a couple years ago - now we see the result! Wonder what will happen next year when Kyrie is back, will they play Kyrie and Rozier together, will Rozier accept coming off bench again (meaning Larkin is odd man out), or will Rozier (and other assets) be traded for another big name? I sure hope he is back.

Alsacs, I really like your starting lineup and bench for next year, if all the players are still around, which I suspect may not be the case (e.g., Morris or Smart). That healthy roster could beat any other team.

BTW, couldn't Smart guard LeBron if the C's and Cavs meet in the conf finals? Even if LeBron goes off, as long as Celtics contain the other players (ala Milwaukee series), then they have a great chance to win. First things first - still need to win 2 more over a very good Philly team (Redick is a ridiculous shooter).

If we somehow beat the 6ers in this series-

I would not mind starting game 1 with Smart on Love and Horford hovering to help.

Tell Smart he has 3 foul to get in the cavs heads and swing the morale/tempo in our young guns favor.

Morris is going nowhere he has one year left at 6 million.
He is a valuable piece to replace somebody when they can’t start and he will get paid next year.
Smart is a RFA. He could get an offer sheet but I don’t see it. I think he is offered a multi year contract in the 8-12 million per range or he signs the 1 year tender.
If the team is healthy next year they are minus LeBron going to Philadelphia the clear favorite in the East and legit threat to Golden State.

I wouldnt even want Kawhi. I think jaylen brown and tatum will be enough defensively and offensively. Boston bred as well.
Those 3 with a PG and another big could all play together.
If Kwahi is healthy he is at worst a top 10 player in the league.
Philadelphia can’t trade Robert Covington till November thus they can’t get Kwahi.
IMO for Kwahi it comes down to Clippers, Lakers, Knicks if they deal Porzingis or Celtics.

Kwahi, Rozier, Hayward, Tatum, Brown gives you enough depth to actually beat Golden State.

OK, I see your points w/r/t Morris and Smart. Not sure what you mean in your last sentence. Are you implying that Philly will be the favorite (given a LeBron-less Cavs team), or did you mean to say Boston would be favored? With all players back and healthy with Boston, I'd think they are the favorites. The talent level is crazy good. Please clarify. Thanks.

Thats a monster team. In that scenario, you think we still feature Horford/morris/theis/monroe/smart off the bench?

Unless LeBron goes to Philadelphia they are the clear favorite next year in the East. If LeBron doesn’t go to Philadelphia the Celtics are the East favorite.
If LeBron went to Philadelphia then both teams are high 50 win teams and it’s a war in the playoffs with Philadelphia as a slight favorite.

In that scenario honestly the starting lineup is
Rozier
Kwahi
Hayward
Tatum
Horford
With Jaylen Brown as the 6th man and playing lots of minutes.
Bench
Morris
Smart
Theis
Olejeye

This team would be enough to actually give a healthy Golden State a legit challenge.

I just don't see Ainge doing a Kyrie for Kwahi deal (unless Ainge thinks he can't sign Kyrie to a longer term deal). He spent too much time getting Kyrie and greatly values what he brings to the team. Rozier has played very well lately, but he's no Irving, at least not yet. I'm good with the young talent they have now. Despite the gruesome injury to GH, it was a blessing to Brown and esp. Tatum in their development this year. Yes Kwahi is a great player, but I think Ainge wants to keep and develop his very young outstanding talent. But, basically, whatever it takes for the C's to compete for championships over the next several years, I'm good with, so not against Kwahi if that's the best option in Ainge's mind.

Yeah, look... Danny will trade anybody, any time, if the deal is right.

Thanks Alsacs. I got it now. Unless I'm out of touch, hadn't heard much about LeBron to Philly possibility, mostly the LeBron to LA rumors.
